When Did My Life Go So Wrong?!

I just read my friend Chico's Blog, and now I feel like a big fat loser. I miss my friends in Fort Worth a lot. I haven't talked to many of them in depth. With the exception of Cesar, who I don't talk to enough either. I thought I was getting better and liking it out here, but after I read Chico's blog, I realized what a boring person I've become. I don't do anything unless it is with Darin anymore, and even then all we do is go to movies or rent a movie. No drinking is involved, because he never wants to go out. I haven't gone to any work happy hours lately because the last one that was supposed to be a big bash was for two guys that were leaving and that was scheduled for the Friday of my Granpa's funeral. So obviously I couldn't go. waaaahhhh! Apparently I missed a good one too.

I really want to take a trip out of here, like I used to in Fort Worth. I used to go with a friend or two to Austin, or whereever, and it was fun. Now I don't do anything but go back and forth to Wheaton. When did my life go so wrong?!

Family Update

Well, it seems like a very long two weeks, but that's how long my Grandpa has been off playing in Heaven. It's also been 9 days since my mom broke her ankle on the ice outside the church after the funeral. The poor thing has had to put up with names like "Hope Along", or "Hoppity Hop" and fun stuff like that.

She found an orthopedic surgeon in ABQ, and had a new cast put on. I guess she's doing pretty well with it, and my dad was doing laundry last night. Which is a pretty funny image to me. :o) My dad is an alpha male. He fixes things, cooks on the grill, hunts, and ever since his heartattack, gardens and bakes. Ok. So maybe he's not exactly the alpha male image anymore, but he's pretty close. I don't think he's ever done laundary in his whole life. I'd actually be worried how they'd come out.

Mom broke her ankle pretty good. She broke both bones, and had to have metal stints put in to support the bones while they heal. After it heals, they will stay in her ankle. Unless they cause her a lot of trouble, then she can have them removed. Doesn't that sound like fun?

I've also managed to be a bad Grandaughter. I haven't called my grandma since the funeral. But I suspect that she's had enough people in her house that she won't notice. I do think she probably would miss me this weekend, since this is usually when I come to visit them. I have to make sure that I call her tonight just to make sure I'm in good standings with her. I just didn't feel like driving 3 hours west again this weekend. I think I've had enough of driving lately. If I don't have to drive to Wheaton again until summer time I'll be very happy. Although, I think I will probably go back this weekend, just to spend time with my Grandma. She probabally will be dealing with a lonely house by then. It's going to be weird sitting in her living room, talking to her without my Grandpa's regular interuptions. Or her yelling at him to shut up when he says something she doesn't like. he he he. It'll also be weird sitting in her living room, and seeing his empty chair, and no one to watch the birds over shoot the birdfeeder sitting outside the window, and slamming into the glass. We used to watch that happen, and make fun of how dumb the birds were. Some of those dumb birds would kill themselves because they'd hit the glass so hard. Dumb dumb birds.

So anywhoo... I figure this is getting pretty boring of a read, so I'll sign off... Maybe tomorrow I'll have a more upbeat topic to write about.

Aren't Funerals Fun?

OK so they aren't so much fun. But they aren't so bad either. This one however, was quite an adventure.

In case you are not aware, I have only ever been to three furnerals. My first Grandpa's was when I was like 5 or something, then my cousin's a couple years ago, and now my other Grandpa's. All seemed to go pretty well I guess. I can't believe how many people showed up to support my Grandma, and to say goodbye to Grandpa. He was loved by a lot of people!

An uncle of mine that has been "MIA" from our family for about 20 years actually came, and was a tearing mess the whole time. But I think it was good for him. Maybe he'll come around more often. This is the uncle that while in the hospital, my Grandpa talked to me about. Pretty much about his regrets, and not understanding how a son could write off a whole family for something. So I made sure to tell this uncle, that Grandpa had him on his mind while in the hospital. I didn't tell him what Grandpa had to say, but I wanted to make sure that he knew that Grandpa still cared about him and all that jazz.

After the funeral/Mass, the family went to the grave site to put him in the ground. The snow and wind really seemed to realy pick up while we were out there. I think this was a little joke Granpa was playing on us. I think he was sitting up there laughing and thinking, "Let's see how many of these people really love me..." Once we returned to the church, the snow had subsided into a very light flurry. So I really do think that he had something to do with it. :o)

Then after the diner that was held in the basement of the church, my mom decided to walk a friend out to his car, and she fell and broke her ankle. So we cut our little dinner/socializing short and rushed her to the local Wheaton hospital. Turns out she broke both bones in her ankle, and they had to send her to Fergus (an hour away) to operate on her. So I loaded up Darin's truck with my Dad, Sister, Darin, and me and headed off to Fergus. Where we sat.... And waited... and sat... and waited some more. Turns out that breaking ankles was pretty popular that day. We got there at 3:00. There were 2 people ahead of mom that had to have surgery. They thought she might go in at 8:00. So we sat and sat and sat, and finally, at 11:00pm she went in for surgery!!!! ELEVEN O'CLOCK!!!! She was finally finished around Midnight, then we had to wait for her to recover from the sedation. We didn't leave the hospital until 1:30 in the morning.

Poor mom. She now has something like a metal stint in her ankles, can't walk on it for 8 weeks, and most likely the stints are permanent. She also had to get a note from the Dr. so they can get on the airplane today. He he he. She'll be setting off metal detectors for the rest of her life. They're going to have to wand her. he he he.

So... That was my lovely 4 day weekend!

Grandpa

Darin called me about 45 minutes ago to tell me he was "driving around, and was in my parking lot wanting to talk to me." I wasn't sure what all this was about, so I went out unsuspecting.

He pulls up, I go to the passenger side, and open the door, "So... What's going on?"
He tells me to get in, and so I do. He then proceeds to tell me that my mom just called him, and asked him to come tell me that my Grandpa passed away last night. She didn't want me to hear it over the phone from her because she thought it'd be better for me to hear it from him, so he could be there for comforting. All I know is that I don't want to talk about it.

I don't even know what to do. I don't know if I should go home, or if I should work, or what. I went to my car, and called my mom. She's doing the same thing. She doesn't know if she should go home or what. If I go home, I'm not going to do anything there but wallow in self pitty. Although he's in a better place now. I don't want to make this about me, and I'm sure there will be plenty of relatives who will make this about them.... hahmmmm.. I suppose I will go home at lunch so I can call my mom again and gather my wits about me. I'm going to need the rest anyway to be strong for my Grandma.

My other Grandpa died when I was too little to remember much, or express how much I loved him. I know this one knows how much I love him, and I'm very greatful for the little bit of time that I had to know him, and for him to know me. I just wish I had a little bit more time. Which I'm sure everyone feels that way when they lose a loved one.

I'm very thankful for being able to see him one last time this weekend. And I'm very thankful that Darin did too. I'm also very thankful, that although he wasn't in the best condition, that he had his wits about him, and knew who we all were, and was still making jokes. Which lead me to believe that he would be pulling out of the worst part soon. I just hope that he went comfortably, and that he is sitting next to God feeling fabulous, and telling him all his jokes.

How Sweet is my Husband?

About 2 1/5 weeks ago I started acting like a psycho bitch from hell. For some reason, I found pretty much anything to fight with my husband about. Of course, it wasn't all me being psycho, but I realize that most of it really was me. Sometimes, he does things that are just anoying, and rude and after a few of those build up, I just get sick of it. Anyway. This was a particularly long timespan of me not liking anything he did. There are many reason's for this, but for the topic of this particular blog I am not going to get into it. Gary Spivey, a quack psychic from the radio said that about the time I started acting psycho was when he saw an unprecidented number of "psycho demons" come to earth, and they are effecting many people. So I am going to chaulk it up to that. Psycho Demons made me do it. Anyway. Somehow the spell was broken, and I came home one day, and actually enjoyed his company again. Ever since, things have been back to normal. So.... For about a week now. Because of all of this, I wasn't expecting anything cute or kind for the big V-day. Besides, I don't really like the idea of doing something special on this day anyway. So I doubly didn't expect anything from him.

So this morning, I am leaving the house, and I hand him my card to him. He kisses me, and we exchange our somewhat usual, mushy routine. I then arrive at work, and begin my day. He calls me at about 8:45 to see if "I found my gift that he left for me in my car". My response, "No. Where is it? I didn't see anything." "Well, it's pretty obvious, I'm not sure how you could miss it." So I go out to my car, and he had come to my office, and put a plant in my drivers side seat. It was the cutest thing ever! I totally was feeling bad, "how could I not notice something in my car if he says it's obvious?" So that was a pretty cool thing to start my day out with. After the crappy beeeotch I've been I totally wouldn't deserve a pile of poop in my car. OK. Maybe I do deserve a pile of poop in my car.

But anyway... Isn't he wonderful? I'm so lucky.

Here's Why I Hate the Post Office

Last Wednesday, I received in my mailbox one of those pink slips that says, "We attempted to deliver your package, and it is now at the Post Office for you to Pick Up."
This first irritate me because:
  1. It was an overnight package that I needed on Thursday
  2. It didn't have to be signed for so I don't know why they couldn't just leave it in my box, or drop it off at the office
  3. I now have to go get it at the Post Office during work hours to get it on Thursday

Thursday afternoon rolls around, and I head to the PO to retrieve my package. (Which by the way are Rodeo Tickets that I paid $80 for). I get there, stand in line for longer than I should have since there were only 2 people ahead of me, and 3 tellers, to hear this, "Well, ummm, this package might not be here. Let me check." Walks off, comes back a couple minutes later, "Yeah, this was taken out to try to deliver again today."

So that pisses me off because: Nowhere on that pink slip does it say "will to redeliver tomorrow". It SAYS, "your package is at the post office"!!!!

So I procede to tell the guy that I need that package now because it has tickets in it for tonight, which is why I had it overnighted to me in the first place. So is there a way to find the Carrier and get it? He tells me, "well.... you can drive around the neighborhood and see if you can find her".

"You don' t have a way to walky talky her and find out which street she's on?"

"Let me go talk to my supervisor." Walks off. Returns in about 2 minutes, "Well, you can start at Grapevine Rd and just drive in and out of the residentials."

So I say again, "Don't you have a way of calling the carrier to see where they are?"

"No, not really."

"Then how do you know if they are alright? What if they were mugged or something on the job?"

"Well, they usually have their own cell phones."

"Can you call hers to see where she is?"

"Well, I don't really know her number...." duuuuuuhhhh.

God! I hate the United States Post Office!!!!

So I went chasing around the residentials to try and find her. I found one, but it was the wrong lady. So I never found the right one. I wound up going home, and righting a note on a sticky, and posting it on my mailbox to tell the person to leave it in my box no matter what. Luckily that worked, and I didn't have to go postal at the post office after work.

So now you know why I hate the USPS. The End!

I Had to Pee So Bad it Tickled My Teeth

I have had to go to the bathroom for like 2 hours, but I've been so busy that I haven't gone. So I've been sitting in my chair, wiggling, trying to finish my project so I can get up and go.
I finally ran into the bathroom, and when I started to go, my teeth started to tickle. I don't know how to describe it exactly. But that is close I guess. It was the weirdest thing. It was so uncomfortable that I literally had to consider not going to the bathroom because I couldn't stand that feeling on my teeth!

Has this happened to anyone else ever?! Or am I just weird?
