I Almost Died Today
I was at the top of the stairwell at my office when suddenly, my right food decided to stop stepping forward. My heal got stuck on the first step and suddenly I found myself falling. Luckily, I grabbed the hand rail before toppling head-over-heals all the way down the stairs.
Instead, I just suffered a mild twisted ankle.
My boss has been out of the office the past couple days, and life has been pretty hectic for me because of it. I'm actually blogging from home right now. I was going to scrapbook, but I just don't feel like getting my fat ass up out of this chair to bend over a table. But I really need to finish scrapbooking my wedding.
My dad is in town, so that's pretty fun. He drove up, and brought me his old TV. They bought a new flat screen TV a while back. So they decided to give me their old one. It's about twice the size as my old one. Funny thing is, I never realized how small my old TV was until they put this on in. DJ bought a TV stand that actually isn't horrible. (I actually think I like it.)
Damn, McDreamy is HOT! I'll marry him and have his babies if Meredith won't.
Who's ready for Lost to start? Yeah baby!

Pregnant in the Front...And Back
I'm getting bigger from the back view. And I'm not talking about my ass. What used to be a cute (although large) hour glass figure, is now squaring up. I'm horrified!!! Why can't I be one of those "pregnant in the front" people?

Stupid Me
In other news, I got a $50 gift certificate for giftcertificates.com from one of the companies that I am doing business with. I wish more companies would send me cool gifts like that. Most usually just send food. Giftcertificates.com is basically a site that lets you buy gift certificates for a bunch of stores so that you can basically spend it anywhere. I still haven't decided what I'm going to spend it on. Neeto eh?

OMG!
I can't believe it though! I got it all!!! I must be loved over here. And none of the prorated crap like stupid wilsons either.
I can't wait! I've got big plans! Pay off a credit card bill that just decided to bend me over with a 25% APR, then pay off a loan I've almost got paid off, buy christmas gifts, and then buy stuff for me and baby. Woo hoo!

Frickin' Cold
Do you know how cold it is in this place? NEGATIVE 14! It is so cold, that when I walked outside to get into my office building, within seconds, the hairs in my nose froze! I thought I had a booger I was going to have to pick out, but when I got into the building all was well again. This actually happened to me on the way in to Target the other day, and that day the temperature was negative 7. Same thing. Frozen nose hairs.
When I told DJ that no human should be living in this kind of climate, he told me to just wait until my eyelashes freeze and get little tiny icicles on them. WHAT?! Again, I pointed out how no one was meant to live in this place.
Another strange thing about this place that I realized as we were sweeping 7 inches of snow off my car in the airport parking lot was, "Why the HELL doesn't this town have any covered parking?" You'd think that they'd really like this concept since we're always scraping sheets of ice off our windshields. Who was the idiot that built this city anyway? I also wonder why they don't ever attach their garages to their buildings. All the apartment building parking garages are detached, but for a few that have underground parking. And all the houses built before, oh, probably 1995 also have no attached garages. Why? Of all places, this place should have been the inventor of attached garages.
All I have to say is thank God for the invention of Astro-Start. At least when I do finally get to my car, it's nice and warm. Well, I came in today to get some work done, so I better get to it. I'll write more later if I get it all done.

Let's Play, You Be the Judge!
Note: convos have been truncated to keep you interested.
Convo1: (Ok. I'm too busy to find the original, but here is the gist)
her: I want family pictures, my unibrow boyfriend can take them. Let me know your thoughts.
me: I'm fine with that so long as it is the four of us, minus Unibrow and DJ since I'm prego (and Unibrow isn't even part of the family yet- didn't say that part, expecting her to figure it out.) Otherwise, I'd much rather wait til next year.
her: OK. That's fine, let me know what you're going to wear.
Convo 2: (exactly as original)
Me: OK. My color choices so far are lavender, grey, or black. Very likely will wind up being lavender for me.
Do mom and dad know about our plans? (didn't mention it in the last email) Will we plan to do that on Thursday night after supper? (Maybe we better do it before we eat so we don't look fat.) I'm fine with doing a "just the four of us" picture. Because after this year, it's really not going to be the four of us anymore. Technically, that's already happened with me getting married, but DJ doesn't care if he's not in the photos this time around. He understands that we don't have a "just the four of us" picture. And after April, something tells me no one is going to care if DJ and I are in the pictures anymore anyway. Maybe we can make mom and dad sit in front of us to hide my fatness too?
----here comes the crazy----
her: What color would DJ wear? Unibrow doesn't have anything that's purplish, but he does have a few nice black shirts. Me, I'm sure I have something in the lavender family, so we could go with black, white, and lavender. And yes, I have already devised a plan to hide your tummy in the photo.
me: I thought we were just doing pics of you me dad and mom? So no DJ and Unibrow (I'm calling him Uni from here on out).
her: Well, I figured we could first do us (you, me, Mom, and Dad) and then do another with the four of us and then toss in DJ and Uni, plus one of each couple individually. What do you think? Too much?
Convo 3: (edited)
me: ...I'd much rather have pictures of my family including the one in my belly. The main reason being: Its not like we're going to have permanent pictures done every year, so I'd much rather just wait until the baby is out.
And for a secondary reason... I'm sure you'd feel the same way if it were reversed: I don't really think it's fair to DJ to do a "family" picture with "the boyfriend", since he's not yet married in. (Boyfriends are removable. Even the live in type you know.) I have been wanting a family picture with me, you, mom, dad and DJ, but since I didn't want to offend you by excluding Uni., I haven't asked for it. I don't want DJ to see some framed picture on the wall that's being considered a "family" picture, with someone who hasn't made the same commit he has. I can't really explain what I'm talking about, but I think there is something to be said for those that are permanent members of the family, and those who are not yet. I also don't want to take a set with and without Uni, and ask mom and dad to frame and hang the without version. So therefore, I am voting against the including Uni and DJ altogether to avoid conflict. It's either DJ only, or none at all for me. (PS, this is another reason for my reason number one. Because maybe by next year Uni will be permanent and this will no longer be an issue.)
Then I got serveral emails ranting on about how Uni is a good photographer and how he has all he needs to take a good photo. I have at least 3 of them telling me that.
My secret response: "OK. Dont really care.... BUT can he refrain from picking his nose with his pinky finger and sliding what he finds around on his finger for more than every other 5 minutes?"
OK. So verdict? Who's the crazy?
PS. Ain't no way in HELL I'm taking a family photo with some boyfriend that if he were smart enough would run away screaming while he still can! It's bad enough I have to buy the guy Christmas gift when we get together for our "family" gift exchange.

Bring on Old Man Winter
Here 's another complaint from me since you've got me started.
I took my computer to the Big W with me, and when I opened it up to use it, the frickin' LCD panel was cracked. All the way across the screen. I'm pissed. I didn't even treat it roughly. It went from table, to padded bag, to car, to table. Doubly pissed because my warranty just ran out, and I decided not to renew it. Bastards!
One a much happier note. DJ and I are headed to Albuquerque for the weekend. It's a whole 42 degrees there today. So it will be really nice to get into the heat wave of the desert. Can't wait!

Holy Shit!
Weekend Update
I received my sister's "Christmas card". (Some of you may have received it, because of course, she's trying to make my friends her friends, so she can make them think she's "super great!".) Anyway. She dressed her dumb dogs up as hot dogs, and made her boyfriend dress up as a mustard bottle while she was ketchup. The picture is totally hilarious. I'm sure she thinks it's very serious and cute, but I think it's frickin' HILARIOUS!!!!! For so many reasons.... But anyway, that's not the complaint. Everyone can do their own stupid thing with their cards. I'm sure people think mine are stupid as well. But what bothered me, is my super "worried about identity theft" sister (So much so that she used to shred her junk mail for fear that someone might get some info on her. She may still do this.) has started her own blog. Can you guess which blog engine she's using? Could it be Blogger??? Could it also be a blog that was started shortly after I sent out an email to my family and friends about my public family site???
She had emailed me and asked me about what blogger was, and I stupidly fell into the trap of telling her it was part of Google's web packages where you could do tons of stuff with one account including RSS readers, and all that crap. So foolish of me. I didn't have my guard up. For now on, I will have to ignore her emails until I can have time enough to think about what the devious plan is.
Now, you may be thinking. "KB, you're so silly. What's the big deal. Many of your friends have started blogs after finding out about yours. It's no different than that." Well... If that's your thought, then let me point out that this is the same sister that whenever she sees what my hair looks like, she switches her hairstyle. And let me also reiterate about how she won't buy anything online because she doesn't want anyone to steal her identity, but has no problems making her boyfriend, my father, or anyone else she can sucker into doing it for her. Which reminds me of the time she called me up and wanted to take out a $5000 loan in my name because she didn't want it on her credit. But it was totally fine for it to be on mine. Whatever.
It's nothing that I'm losing sleep over, but it's just another one of those things to kick me back into reality about how she still hasn't changed or grown up. I'm a thousand miles away from her, and my blog, is about the first glimpse into my life that she's seen in two years. I'm so not going to give the link to said blog, because it's just all about her three stupid dogs, but here is what she says in the intro. "This blog is dedicated to my three beautiful pups, Scout, Bandit, and Daisy. In the photo below, Bandit is the smiling dog on the left, Scout is smiling dog on the right, and Daisy is the cutie in the middle with the happy grin and longer, fluffier hair. I would also like to thank my boyfriend, Dan, for being such a big part of our lives and for encouraging me to set up this blog!" Ummm... What about "Thanks to my sister, whom I keep trying to be by trying to do everything she does at every chance I get. If only she'd let me in more, so I could be more like her." Oh, and here is more. "... please be mindful that, since this blog is being set up in website format, that any and all comments posted to this blog are public and available for the entire internet using community to see. Please use caution and respect when mentioning other people and, if at all possible, please refrain from using last names. You do not have to be a blog subscriber to post a comment. If you are not a blog subscriber, simply sign in as anonymous and post your comment. But please! As my sister so carefully points out on her blog, if you do comment using anonymous, please be sure and sign your first name or initials at the end of the comment so that Dan and I know who the heck you are!" Hmm... doesn't that sound almost exactly like this "...Currently, you don't need to be a blogger subscriber to make a comment. All you have to do to comment, is sign in as anonymous. But please! If you do comment using anonymous, please sign your first name so we know who you are.
And please! Remember, just because we're on the web, doesn't mean everyone else wants to be there. So use caution and respect when mentioning other people. My rule of thumb is not to use any one's last name. Although this site is "technically" not published in any search engines, it is still a website, which always makes it public." I guess I'd be less irritated if she just said, "My sister has a blog, and now I want to have a blog too."
That reminds me, I better email her and tell her that she better not be giving out my blog address to people without my permission. Because I don't need her crazy friends reading my personal business. I can always make it private if I have to, but I don't want to make it hard for the people I actually care about that are reading it to read it.
Now on to the Saturday holiday with my in-laws. That surprisingly, was not bad. Not bad at all. I think what made it more interesting than usual, was that she invited some neighbors/relatives of theirs that I really like. I'll call them L&B. L, the man, is so funny. He's very talkative, and he's not always actually funny, but the things that he says are funny, even if he's not trying to be. And B is just so nice (in a normal way). When I walked into the house, she greated us at the door, and before I could get a "hello" out, she said, "I just heard your good news! I'm so happy for you!" and gave me a big ole hug. (I think that's more than I've even received from my own MIL.) She even looked like she was ready to tear up. It was sort of nice to be greated that way. This couple was one of the first people I met when I came to "meet the parents" way back when DJ and I were still in that cutsie stage. They were the first people to make me really feel welcome. Their daughters are the same way too. DJ and I have met them for dinner a couple times and I would love to be "real friends" with them. Does it sound too desperate if I just come out and ask them that? "Can we be friends? I really like you girls, and would really like that." L&B being there, made the day go by much better, and we didn't even spend any time staring at the TV on mute.
I also FINALLY got to hold my nephew. He is now 8 weeks old. It's about damn time! Usually when I see him everyone else wants to hog him, and I just get annoyed by the people that don't just leave the poor kiddo alone. But my SIL wanted to eat, so I took him for her. Man that guy is heavy. He decided he didn't want to sit up anymore, so I adjusted so he could lay down, and he fell asleep. I was like, "YES! he didn't start screaming!" So I held him while she ate, and then when she was done, we put him down for his nap. Man! Was my arm sore! He's 12 pounds something now, so it's not like I was lifting a little light baby anymore.
DJ and I also saw Fred Claus. This is getting bad reviews (so I hear), but I thought it was pretty good for what it was. I'd recommend seeing it if you like that kind of movie.

First Day of Snow
On my way home, it started to snow. Only in this one town though. It was really sort of weird. I drove into a fog, then it turned into a flurry, then it was big fat flakes, and I could barely see the road. I drove for about 20 miles and it finally turned into rain. It was sort of neat. Although I absolutely hate the idea of the cold weather, it was pretty cool seeing the snow. Too bad we're going to have about 6 months of it.

Hot Steamy Sex
So anyway. Tay and his ex-wife (the characters anyway) get it on pretty good at the end of the show. I as so turned on by Tay I almost had to, well... I didn't. So we don't need to go there. If you missed the epi, and want to see it, click on this link. Really the only good scene is that last one.

Spit In My Face Bitch!
So this lady calls in and proceeds to tell this story of how she and her new boyfriend of a couple months finally got down to "business" last night, and in the middle of it, he grabs her hair (So hard her neck hurt, she said) and yells, "Spit in my face bitch!". She said this in her version of exactly how he said it. A short and loud man voice. It was so funny how she said it, and how serious she was about needing advice on what to do, that after about the third or fourth time of her saying it, I burst out laughing in my cube. I couldn't hold it in. The guys on the radio were laughing at her too.
I was laughing so hard. (You know how I get when I laugh too hard. I can't help it, and I know I look ridiculous. I also get weak and can't stand.) That's how hard I was laughing. And no one was there to share it with me. I laughed so hard, my eyes were crying. The only thing I could do was email my friend Jordan. She's the only one that would appreciate this story. Which she did. Too bad you guys couldn't have heard what I heard. It was frickin' HILARIOUS!
I'll tell you what I would have done. I would probably have burst out laughing as I did when she said it. But at him. Then, I'd probably laugh so hard at him, I'd pee on him. Then I'd get up and leave that loser naked on the floor (or wherever it was we were doing it.)
I can't wait to tell DJ! He's going to think it's hilarious too!

club kb's Two Cents
I'm so sick of people appologizing for their racism. They aren't sorry. If they were truely appauled by their actions, they wouldn't be so free to blurt them out. The only reason these people applogize after the fact is because someone made it public.
You know what. If you're racist, then fine. Make it known and be proud. Because you'll get yours in the end anyway. Charma is a bitch, and I suspect it's worse for ignorant fools.
Stop making excuses for yourself, and trying to make yourself out to be a saint, when you're really a dirty ignorant bastard.

Falling
Luckily, I grabbed the hand-rail while screaming. The guy did grab me to stop my fall. Of course, I jumped up, made a joke, and kept walking. Thank GOD the hand rail didn't plummet down with me when I grabbed it. How embarrassing would that be?
OMG! I hurt so much. Somehow I must have kicked my right shin, because I now have a big welt there, plus, I think I have rug burn on my thumb. I also drew blood on my left elbow. Found that later. And, my big toe on my left foot hurts too.
I am now a little worried about all the ice that's going to show up this winter. If I'm already falling for no reason, can you imagine if I have to walk over ice with a big ole nasty belly? Maybe I need to get a big bubble for me to ride in while I'm out.
PS. You can see my costume on the other site. If you don't know the other site, then email me so I can give it to you.

Superhuman Terrorists
An illustrated guide on dealing with superhuman terrorists.
If you didn't already know, this week was Islamo-fascism Awareness Week. Now I'm not entirely 100% positive on what an Islamo-fascist is, per say, but I would assume it's some sort of superhuman hybrid of a terrorist and a Nazi, which is admittedly pretty frigging scary. In the face of this new threat, I'm doing my part by providing you with these handy-dandy tips for how to deal with superhuman terrorism, which were emailed to me this morning in one of those terrific email forwards on which I base all of my thoughts and opinions (Thanks, Michelle!). I hope they can be as helpful to you as they've been to me.

Gay Hollywood: Out of Sight?
from EW.com
By Adam B. Vary
Almost two years after ''Brokeback Mountain'' raked in $178 million worldwide, no major studio has greenlit a single gay film. What is keeping movies in the closet -- and what should Hollywood be learning from TV?
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal's cowboy romance commanded the cultural conversation for months. Will it change nothing?
In the weeks before the 78th annual Academy Awards, Brokeback Mountain producer Diana Ossana already suspected what few outside Hollywood could imagine: Her film was going to lose the Best Picture race. ''Several people told me they knew a lot of Academy voters who just refused to see the film,'' says Ossana, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Larry McMurtry. This tragic love story between two men had dominated the critics' awards and banked $178 million worldwide. It even captivated sellout crowds in states like Oklahoma and Ohio — just not, apparently, in Academy screening rooms. ''What are they afraid of?'' McMurtry asked Ossana. ''It's just a movie.''
But Brokeback was more than a movie. It was a phenomenon that commanded the cultural conversation for months, from Jay Leno to YouTube to the cover of The New Yorker. More important, it proved that straight audiences would snap up tickets to a same-sex romance. Since then, a few gay-themed films have been released (e.g., Notes on a Scandal). But seemingly no studio — nor any studio art-house division — has greenlit a film with a gay lead character. ''I don't think any studio responded by saying, 'Quick, dust off whatever gay dramas we have!''' says one former studio head. As surprising as it seemed that Brokeback could lose the Oscar to Crash, the real shock is just now setting in: Brokeback may have changed nothing.
When audiences complain that Hollywood is out of touch with the rest of the country, it's invariably because a movie is deemed too liberal. When it comes to gay characters, however, it's out of touch for the exact opposite reason. In the past decade, America's attitudes toward homosexuality have shifted, particularly among young people.
A recent national poll of college freshman found that 61 percent approved of gay marriage, up 10 percent from a decade ago. Kids in high school grew up watching Will & Grace and can't recall a time when Ellen wasn't gay. These days, you might catch the gay romance on As the World Turns or get sucked into a bitchy same-sex speed date on MTV's Next. You could be captivated by Dr. Liz Cruz on Nip/Tuck or arrested by Det. Shakima Greggs on The Wire. And, of course, you can watch anything on the gay network, Logo, or the de facto gay network, Bravo. This is not to say that TV is perfect. A recent study by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation calculated that the number of gay regular characters on scripted network prime-time television had actually declined, to just 1.1 percent. That study didn't look at cable or reality TV, nor the total audience watching those shows. Regardless of whether the number of gay characters is up or down this year, the letters LGBT have become a part of television's alphabet soup, and audiences consume it, in their living rooms, by the millions.
While television has been fostering greater acceptance for gay people, movies remain stuck in the 20th century. Almost two years after Brokeback, the best Hollywood can do with gay content is the ''I'm not gay!'' punchlines of Wild Hogs or the homoerotic homophobia of 300. Even the ''gayest'' studio movie of the year, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, climaxed with stars Adam Sandler and Kevin James horrified by the idea of a same-sex kiss. Here's the weird thing: Walt Disney, the company behind Wild Hogs, is the corporate sibling of ABC, which, with Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters, and Desperate Housewives, is the most queer-inclusive broadcast network around. So what gives? How can TV shows be so progressive while movies seem so...old?

Announcement!
Are you ready?
I got promoted! A real promotion! Completely blindsided by it too. Which really makes me happy because I didn't have to stress out about not getting it. I am now Internet Marketing Manager in charge of User Experience. Which to me translates into website development and consistency retention. Effective immediately I am managing 5 people! How exciting! 2 of those people, we haven't even hired yet. Super sweet.
There goes my worries of not getting promoted or taken seriously because I'm knocked up. I don't think I shared this, but about a month ago, I asked for a raise and got it. I went in with a list of everything I was hired to do, everything I am now doing and comp salaries in the industry around this area, and said, here is what I want and here is why. I was happy then, but now I'm totally ecstatic. I know the pressure will be on, but go ahead and BRING IT baby! I can take it!
Anyone want to meet me for Happy Hour tonight?!
I'm sure I'll talk about my pants later.

Crappy Car Days Continued
So I had to get out, and ask the creep sex molester gas attendant to help me push my car out of the gas stall into a parking space until I could get it towed. Another thing that really sucked was that it was Sunday and nothing was open. So pretty much had to sit at home and do nothing. OK. I did some cleaning and some laundry.
So then this morning I called the dealership and they gave me some tips on how to get it started so I could drive it to them to get fixed. $460 later, I think it's fixed. If it's not then I'm leaving it where it dies and buying a new car. Piece of crap!

Brad Paisley is HOT
So during the openers, these college guys were all standing in front of us. When Brad came out, a second set of people showed up. So then there were about twice as many people as there were seats down there. The second set, was pretty drunk. One guy, turned around and was talking to DJ and me, when some other dude just pushed him down into the row of seats below him. So then his friends helped him up and the crappy dude just turned around and punched him straight on in the face. For no reason that DJ and I could tell. So we were like, "WTF?!" The crappy dude was starting to come back for another cheap shot, but the other guys in the row, shoved him out, and luckily he never came back. Then later, one of the other guys was so waisted I thought he was going to puke. I was so happy I was in the row above him instead of below him. His friends finally got him to sit down for a while, but they wouldn't let him pass out. My guess is because it's really hard to move a passed out dude. But if they would have they would have had much less problems. Waisted dude tried to stand up a couple times and started to try to fight with the same dude that got punched earlier. I don't know what it was with punched dude, but it seems like all his guy friends want to kick his ass when they are drunk. One of the sober guys had to stand between the two so poor punched dude wouldn't have to watch his back the whole concert. In the end, someone called security, and they escorted out waisted dude, and then all was fine. Poor punched dude. All he wanted to do was have fun. He seemed like a fun drunk, so it's too bad he kept getting his ass kicked. ha!

News?
The details I will need are-
How far along are you? 11 weeks
What is your due date? April 19
How did the families react? My dad is probably the most excited. My mom, I think she’s coming around. DJ's parents… Well, they don’t really "excite", so I think they are, but who knows.
How did YOU react? Freaked out. I wasn't expecting it to happen so soon. Apparently we are fertile people.
How did DJ react? He hugged me and we cried (happy), then he told me he suspected because of some new habits I had picked up in the past week or two.
How do you feel about all this? I guess you planned it...since you had to get off your BC... Yes, it was planned. We have been working on going off the BC for a while, but we postponed a couple times. So in April we decided we were really doing it. By July, I was pregnant.
Do you want to know what the sex of the baby is? No, we can’t tell that until Week 20. But we’re definitely going to find out. How can I, a planner, not know the sex of the baby? Pe-shaw!
So there you have it. The answers to all your prying questions.

Anti-Stupidity
"OMG! I'm pregnant! You should get pregnant too!""OMG! All I think about and talk about is baby anymore, and I have to torture you about it too! I also have no idea what's going on in the world, because all I care about is babies!""OMG! I used to have a brain, and used it, but now all I want to do is surround myself with babies and other mothers. I don't need my "pre-baby friends" anymore.""I can't leave my baby with a sitter while I go out and have some me time! How dare you even suggest that""Oh sure I'll meet you at the bar, It'll just take me 45 minutes to load all the baby gear in the car, and I and baby will be there in a jiffy.""I just don't trust leaving my husband with the baby alone."
"Toddler, if you're good while mommies in the store, I'll buy you a toy." While in the store toddler is a crazy loon, throwing temper tantrums and other. Toddler still walks out with a toy."Go ahead baby, have another cracker while we're sitting in this nice restaurant. You don't need a plate or a napkin either. Just spread it around." Family leaves and families booth is completely trashed."Mommy! I want this! Mommy I want that! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" getting louder with each word. Mommy is too busy talking with her friends to even acknowledge her child and lets child run crazy in public.
