Bret Michaels

I'm about to write a post that my friend Brenda is going to get very hot blooded about. Mostly out of jealousy, because she would have loved this last concert that I went to. So sorry Brenda, if you're already upset today, maybe you should read this later. he he he.

For everyone else, Guess what I did on Friday night!?!?!?!? I went to see Bret Michaels, Rock of Love Concert! Yeah baby! He was playing at the local casino, which the guys at my office likened to one step below State Fair. ha! Yeah, I have to agree. It sort of is. But anyway. My cousin, sister-in-laws and two of their friends all went out and had a great time. It was a much better time then I was expecting actually.

Highlights.
1. Bret is much better looking in person. I'm not one of those people who thinks he's mega hot or anything. (He's a little too botoxed for my liking these days. Checkout the picture above.) But I did think he was MUCH better looking in person, and looked taller and thinner then he does on Rock of Love.

2. He sang a lot of the old Poison songs. We all rocked out and had a blast.

3. We discovered that no one was kicking people out of the front, so we headed up to the front of the stage where we got our rock on some more, and bonded with other drunk bitches.

4. Everyone, men and women had a great time singing along and being "old-school".

5. He announced that he was coming back next year with Warrant and Def Leopard. (Oh yeah, I'm totally there.)

6. It was like I was back in middle school. All over again, when Brenda was going to Warrant and the Nelson Brothers concerts and getting her pants signed while I was stuck at home.

Low lights.
1. The beer line was messed up. People stood in line for most of the concert. When we got to the front of the line, we bought three six packs. Tee hee. People behind us were pissed, but whatever. Don't worry, that was only 3 beers a piece. We weren't a bunch of lushes.

2. That had to be one of the worst openings I've ever seen! Yep. I said it. Here's how it went down. His body guard comes up and pumps us up. He then says the magic words, "Are you ready to rock! Here's Bret Micheals!!! AAAAHHHHHHH! The crowd goes wild, the music starts, the lights dim, the stage lights up. AAAAHHHH!!! Guns and Roses starts playing. Welcome to the Jungle. Umm.... no Bret. The song played in its entirety before the band made it to the stage. Welcome to the Jungle is a pretty long song. We were all sitting down and standing there like "WTF?" So when he finally did come out, our cheers were somewhat lackluster. Ummm.. Yeah. Worst opening ever.

3. Did I mention the beer situation?

4. There was only one old man selling the shirts at the end of the show, so it took FOREVER for us to get a shirt. Even though I got to watch some stupid bitch pay $500 for his sweaty tank top, and another $500 for the hat he wore during the concert. I bet she regretted that the next day.

We had so much fun though. We were sad when the concert was over. But that didn't stop us from moving to the bar and having way too many frosty beverages.

I've decided. When the Warrant, Def Leopard, Poison tour starts, I'm finding one somewhere where Brenda and I can meet half way and go get our 80's on. I would have been a lot more fun with her there. I remember on her bachelorette party night, she lost her voice because it just so happened that the club we went to was playing 80's rock all night long and she was singing along all night long. Her future hubby was pissed when she had no voice to recite her vows with. tee hee hee.

Here are some pics. They are from my camera phone, so they pretty much suck. My cousin got some great ones. I can't wait for her to forward them to me to post.

Best Weekend Ever!

OK. So it may not turn out to be the best weekend "EVER", but it's going to be a pretty awesome weekend for me. I've got 3 of my favorite gal pals coming UP to see me, and my two SILs are also going to come up. I think it's going to be a blast!

DJ has left the building. Which is actually sort of depressing for me. He's headed to the big W straight from work when he gets off at 6:00am. So I don't get to see him all day tomorrow. :( sniff sniff.

So when the girls get here, it will literally be a girls weekend. I'm totally excited!

Friends

I have this friend, who just had a baby. She's totally had freak complications and she's the healthiest person I know. She runs fricken triathlons and crap like that. She is the last person I ever thought would have such a rough time. I totally feel like the shittiest friend ever. I'm so far away, and all I'd really like to do is go down there and do whatever it is she wants me to do for her so she can get better. I think I'm going to have to start calling her weekly to make sure she's still alive for a while. I thought the worst was over, but I just got an email that says differently. Hopefully all will be well now, but just in case, I'll be calling her regularly for a while. Now if that doesn't show my love, I don't know what will. You know, since I HATE talking on the phone and all. :o)

Weekend Update

OK. There are about 2 of you that are waiting for me to update my blog. The rest of you, well...I guess you don't love me enough to come back regularly and now I think I'm going to cry!

As you know, my good friend Kai came up for a whirlwind weekend. And let me tell you! It was quite the whirlwind! And now I am poor now. Super poor. I had allotted myself like $200 to blow on fun stuff. I am wayyyyyyyy over that budget! But If you don't count the cost of gas, I'm in the range. Here is a breakdown of my spending:
GAS 31.73%
FOOD 16.88%
SHOPPING 51.39%
100.00%

Want to know what we did? Here's a quick review.

Thursday
Went to dinner and a club downtown with my friend Jordan and her friend. Had a blast! There was a guy there with assless leather chaps. He was awesome! Especially when he had his ass photographed with two women "cheek to cheek". It was greatness. I wish I had taken a picture of him. -- I think we also witnessed a crack deal go down when we were driving around trying to find the right parking garage to park in.-- Headed home early to rest up for our Day of Shopping!

Friday
Got to the MOA before it even opened! Had to sit around for 20 minutes and wait for stores to open. Kai made his first purchase within the first 10 minutes of Banana Republic being open. It was a good purchase. I think the best thing he bought all day. We shopped around until about 5:00. (That's SEVEN hours! SEVEN!) Then we headed out just in time for rush hour traffic, and headed to the Outlet Mall. The store we really wanted to go to wasn't open anymore, so we didn't really waist much time there. Maybe about an hour or two. Then we headed to the Big W. In the rain.

Saturday
Tried to four wheel, but got dumped on. It could have been fun, but it wasn't. :o( I made Kai get out of the car and search the ditch for Asperigus. At first he refused to get down in the ditch. But after figuring out what we were looking for, and then deciding I wasn't picking them fast enough, he started to help. We got quite a bit too. He took home about half of it, and I suspect his boyfriend is tired of it by now (unless they froze some of it.) Since it was raining we headed to FM early. I cooked out and we rested. Then we drove around the area and looked at things like, my office building, houses, downtown, blah blah blah.

Sunday
Got up at the butt crack of dawn to drive Kai back to the Airport. (3.5 hour drive) DJ was with us this time, so the ride was a little more mellow. Not to mention, I think we were all still sleeping. After dropping Kai off at the airport, and crying my eyes out because he's leaving me in this terrible place all alone! DJ and I headed to the MOA. (After all, he wasn't with us the first time.) Once I realized his plan was to wander around at a snails pace, I decided we had better go see a movie. Because the last thing I wanted to do was wander around aimlessly at a place that I had already spent seven hours in. So we saw Spiderman. It was a'it. Better than the second one I guess. What's his face plays a good dork.

Then, on our way back to FM, we stopped at my friend Sara's for an early dinner, and to pick up the stuff I left at her place during the last girls outing. It was nice to lounge around with her and her husband (and non-bratty kids--Those are the good kind you know.--) And drink margaritas of course! We stayed longer than we should have, but it was fun! The drive home sucked terribly. DJ was crabby because of all the happenings with farming, and I wasn't happy that he wasn't keeping me entertained. So finally he fell asleep and I was left to myself, the gigantic bugs splattering my windsheild, and my music to sing along to.

I'm sick of driving. If I never have to drive again, that'd be lovely.

Twenty-Four Hours!

That's exactly the amount of time left until I pick Kai up at the airport. Whoo Hoo! I have no idea why the butterfly on my ticker hasn't moved, but I haven't had time to look into it either.

We have an itinerary and everything. I can't wait! It's going to be a tiring weekend, but it's going to be so much fun! On the agenda:

Shopping Shopping Shopping! Plus some clubbing, eating, drinking, and some outdoor things too. The weather should be pretty good for most of the weekend, so that should work well too!

I can't wait! I'm taking a half day tomorrow so I can get to the cities in time. Woo hoo!

I'm totally broke right now, so I'm going to have to do some rearranging of money on my credit cards. Shhhh... Don't tell my husband. Actually, he just bought himself a new four wheeler, so go ahead and tell him! He owes me at least half the value of that four wheeler in things I like for me anyway!

Breaking Friendships

Well... Sadly, I have to announce that I am breaking ties with my oldest known friend. She screwed up, and she screwed up bad. She failed to notify me that Girl Scout cookies were on sale. Not only did she fail to tell me this, her kids orders are already in! I can't believe it. She's trying to keep me from my Thin Mints! What a bitch!

I guess I'll be ordering from a couple women in my building. Since I'm supposed to not eat bad things, I'm not sure if I'll get my normal 19 boxes. But it'll have to be enough to get me through the year. Maybe I'll order 12. One per month. That sounds reasonable doesn't it?

Happy Birthday!

My friend Blac17 turns the big Three-OHHHHH! today. So I thought I'd wish her happy birthday and welcome to the club!

I know you're not supposed to tell a woman's age, but since I'm not posting any pictures of her, and because I'm already 30, I figured it didn't matter. :o)

Happy birthday girlfriend! You're my oldest friend. (Not oldest as in age, but oldest as known each other too long.)

Here's to another 20 years of friendship, and at least another great 30 years of good looks!

Pictures

I went to someone's office last week and they had tons and tons of photos of their friends.  I realized since changing jobs that I don't have many up. I have one of the crew from Wilsons at my going away happy hour, one of my friend Jordan in a frame someone gave me that sits next to the Las Vegas jar she gave me.  And then one of me and DJ in the bluebonnets. Oh, and if you want to count this one, I have one of me and the Blues Brothers from my last business seminar in Orlando.

So what I'm requesting of all of you who read my blog is to email me a good picture of you so I can stick it up in my cube.  That way, when I get fed up with the way people are here, I can look at all my friends and go to a happy place.  :o)

Can't wait to see your pics so send them soon!

Memories

The Original Sandwich

My SIL and I went to Schlotzky's yesterday while we were out shopping. She ate, I didn't. So today when I went out to do some returning at Michaels, I stopped and got a Smoked Turkey Sandwich. Mm mmm Good.

I've got some fond memories of being mistreated as a high schooler at the Schlotzky's located right next to the HS. My friend Blac and I would go in there, the workers would be rude to us because they didn't like annoying HSers in there. I think that was the last time I've ever been in one too. They now have different size breads, and different types rather than just Sourdough. I stuck with tradition. As I bite into this warm goodness I am thinking of all the fun things Blac and I used to do. We were so cool!

Memory Lane

I'm driving into work this morning, and Poison's Talk Dirty to Me comes on.  So I totally crank it up and am jamming to it in my car.  Singing along and all.  The roads are a bit icy because of last night's snow, so everyone is in this Zombie like state, and here I am, radio cranked, jamming.  It totally put me into a good mood.  I started thinking about how Blac and I used to dance around and be stupid, as well as how we used to pretend Kirk Cameron was her boyfriend.  She had a life sized poster of him laying on his side with one leg sort of propped up.  We moved it to her bed level so he could lay in bed with us.  ha!  We were clever little girls.  I wonder if her mom ever worried about us?  ha!

I'm going to try to find that poster on Google.  Brb...OK.  I've lost interest.  But I'm pretty sure this pic is from the same photo shoot.  Doesn't he look dreamy?

Key the music…

Da da da. Another one bites the dust. Da da da. Another one bites the dust….

(FYI: I've tried to post this post for a few days now. Finally. I got it to work, but it's a couple days old. So where were we? Oh, yeah Da da da. Another one bites the dust...)

One of my high school best friends told me some happy news yesterday. She even thought she was being clever by predicting what I was going to write in my blog. Well, she was only right about one thing that she wrote for me. She has crossed over to the darkside. (I hear that Darth Vader needed a few more recruits anyway. Better her than me!) I’ve lost another married without kids, to Babyland. Hopefully she won't join the world of “prego-zilla”, which is an even darker place than Babyland. I'm sad that I can't be there to help keep her sane from all the crazed in-laws.

I’ve already filled her in on a few things she could do to keep her loved ones posted. Like starting a prego blog that can also share images, etc. but locks out anyone that doesn’t have a password. She’s not very far along, but I can’t wait to see the first images of little alien lilababe. Congrats again to you and lilaboy. I guess you better go replace your broken camera and quick!

Here’s what iVilliage has to say about what's going on with her right now:
Your baby's head is quite big, due to the rapid growth of the brain. The upper limbs resemble paddles. Your baby-to-be's heart begins to separate into four chambers, and blood is circulating throughout the body. Intestines form within the umbilical cord, but will later migrate back into the abdominal cavity. In the next few days, foot plates, with the beginnings of toe rays, will appear. The external ears are now present. Your baby is now 10 to 13 millimeters long -- about the size of a cherry. The cells that will become either testes or ovaries arrive, but there is no obvious sign of gender yet. Muscle contractions are beginning, but these early "movements" are not yet perceptible.

The first trimester is especially important when it comes to your baby's healthy development. This is the time that most parts of the body are formed and rapid brain development occurs. It is important to consume neither alcohol nor tobacco products. Speak to your practitioner about the safety of continuing prescription medicines and herbal treatments. Reduce or eliminate caffeine intake as well. Recent studies have indicated that more than a few cups of coffee a day may be linked to an increased risk of miscarriage.

Saturday Part II

After I finished with DJs laundry, I decided to stop over to my Grandma’s and see what she was up to. My cousin, my aunt, and she were fixin’ to watch a movie, so I decided to stick around. I hung out with them for a couple of hours.

Hint #1 that something was going on: I call him around 3:30 to see what he’s up to, if he wants me to come out there, or what. So he tells me that he thinks he’ll quit around 5:00, and maybe we can go to dinner or something. This is weird because he NEVER quits working this early during harvest season. Especially since it was so nice out. He tells me he’ll call me when he decides to head into town. So I say, “OK” and we hang up.
Hint #2 that something was going on: He calls me at 5:01pm. He NEVER calls me exactly when he says he’s going to call. Usually he calls me 30 minutes, 40 minutes, an hour later than he tells me. So when he called. I knew for sure something was in the works.
Hint #3 that something was going on: Once he gets home, and cleaned up, he’s already ready to get out of the house and off to dinner. It was only 5:38! He doesn’t eat that early. In fact, he’s always giving me crap for being hungry around 6:00. So I just KNEW that people were waiting for us at the restaurant.

We get to the restaurant, where I am expecting to see my family sitting at a table. Instead, I see my 3 girlfriends from the Cities! I was so excited! I almost cried. I was so excited (and a little embarrassed at the same time, since the Big W is not very exciting this time of year. I wasn’t sure if they’d have any fun or not). So we ate dinner and headed out on the bustling town. Ok. (Maybe we were the only people out.)

One thing I wasn’t expecting was for DJ to organize getting my cousins and have them gather at the Legion. Usually in a small town, we all wind up drinking together anyway. So I was expecting to see some of them anyway. But turns out, he made sure to call everyone and have them come out. I had a blast. It was so much fun having Jordan, Sara, and Charlotte around again. I could post a whole separate blog on just that topic. I have a feeling my in-laws saw a whole new side to me!

Now, I KNOW for a FACT that Jordan had a good time, and I am somewhat sure Sara and Charlotte did as well. Like I said, not much to do in a small town but sit around and drink. And drink we did! Especially me. A girl who’s breaking out a new decade of life can’t turn down drink that were bought for her. Who knows when a man other than her husband will buy her a drink again? Probably never actually.

Anywho, I had a blast! It was the best birthday gift a girl could ever get from her closest friends! The gift of them! What they don’t know is how much I really loved seeing them. I can’t even try to put it into words. I’m very happy that they decided to risk their lives in someone’s silver bullet, just to come little ole Podunkville me. Thanks Sara and Charlotte for leaving your babies to come see little ole me. (ephasis on the ole now) My husband is also super fabulous, because he actually spent some time helping to coordinate this, and he's been working 18 hour days to get his crop in. I feel very blessed to have such good people to call my friends!

Oh yeah, stay tuned for photos from the evening too!

What's Up With My Friends? And Welcome Newbies!

I have two newbies to my blog. They will likely be posting as anonymousis, so hopefully they will remember to put some initials so I know who said what. (Jordan, feel free to take this advise.) I asked my newbies this question: "If you could have any name other than the one you have, what would it be?" Do you want to know what they asked me? (Such suspicious people. They really should just have answered my question. No questions asked. Kai would have.)

They asked me if I was pregnant. What is up with this question? Is everyone looking forward to the days when I join the torture chamber or something?

Anyway. Getting past that creepy question. I'd like to welcome two new members to my site. Welcome Sara and Charlotte! I will try to be an interesting read, but if I'm not, It's not my fault! To all of my "old" members. These two are old coworkers of mine that have become quite good friends. Although I don't really get to spend much time with them because I live in nowheresville now. Sara and her extensive vocabulary always amazes me. She's also a Crazy Catholic. Charlotte is absolutely hilarious, although I don't know if she knows to what extent she is funny. What you would most likely hear her say over the cubical walls.... "I'm a little gassy...poor Suzy (who was her cubemate)."

Good Friends are Like Comfy Blankets

Me: Have you switched your blog over to Beta yet?
My friend: No, have you?
Me: No, I was hoping you did so I could see what it was like
My friend: I'll do it right now
Me: Good. You can be the ginny pig

This conversation really shows the things good friends do with one another. Without any questions or research done on the new beta blogger, he just went ahead and hit the button to switch. No questions or anything. Just did it. I did just the same thing in 2004 when he told me I had to start blogging so he could keep up with me after I moved. No questions. I just did it.

When you think of your closest friends, don't you have a similar feeling to when that first fall breeze rolls into town and you pull out that nice thick fall blanket. It's big, it's comfy, it covers you're whole body, and it warms you through and through. That's exactly how I feel about my handful of best friends. MMMM snuggly.
