Presentations
The game plan: Wait until they are all seated and stuffing their faces. Then try to get through as much as my presentation as possible before they swallow so they can't object. Think it will work?
Nah, I don't suspect this meeting will really be that bad, but I know it will be met with opposition by a couple people on my team, and I'll get to stand up there and defend my reasons for everything. I just know it's going to be a long and tiring meeting for me. The whole project tires my brain every time I get into it.
But the queso is going to be great! I'm making two kinds. One with Pepper Jack cheeze, and one with Velveeta and beef.

Good Friends
Good friends are like butt cheeks.
You can pull them apart, but they always come back together.
Love it! And so true.

Cancer
I got a phone couple days ago from a crying sister. Apparently, my parents took the dog to the vet and he has a tumor on his throat. It's cancer and there is nothing that can be done. He's still walking around all happy go lucky though. So what does a person do? Put a happy dog down, or let it die slowly? I'm just glad I'm not there to see the little guy. I cried for about 3 weeks when I took home an orphaned kitten and it died on the third day that I had it. Then a few months later a coworker made a joke about me "killing that kitten" and I started crying again. So I'm very glad I'm far removed from this one. We've had that dog since 9th grade (I think). One night, when my dad was beating the crap out of me, after throwing me across the kitchen table, I took off out the back door. Barefoot. I just ran and ran and ran to get away. When I finally stopped to catch my breath, our bran new little puppy was barking at me. He had been at my heels the whole time. I remember hiding in alleyways and finally finding a friend from school's house to hide in. Of course, by my running away from the bastard, I was sure to get it even worse when I returned. I am sure I wouldn't have gone back to that house if I didn't have that pup. My dad and I didn't speak to each other again until Christmas Eve, when he had his heart attack. That was several months later. After his brush with death, he stopped being an old bastard.

This picture is from the first night we brought him home.

Weekend Updates
I got a free recliner this weekend! And it's not ugly either. Gotta love that! We've been looking for a chair for the living room for a while. I actually want a nice leather arm chair and ottoman, but because I have this husband, I have to compromise. He wants something comfortable that he can recline in. So I decided I could settle for a recliner so long as it's not terribly horrible. I found a couple cute ones that are a beige colored suede that would go well with my purple velvet couch. But then this weekend, one of his uncles told us he had one that we could have that has hardly been used. So I politely said we could look at it. (Totally thinking, Ummm... no because it's going to be huge and ugly.) It wasn't. It's a smaller size recliner, a solid light brown color. Not something I'd pay for, but it does look barely used, and it's free. So I'll put up with it in my house for a while. If I get sick of it, I can always re-upholster it right? Right.

Talking Dog
A guy is driving around Tennessee and he sees a sign in front of a house: "Talking Dog For Sale." He rings the bell and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a Labrador retriever sitting there."You talk?" he asks.
"Yep," the Lab replies.
"So, what's your story?"
The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down.I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security wandering near suspicious characters & listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired." The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog."
"Ten dollars," the guy says.
"Ten dollars? This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?"
"Because he's a liar. He never did any of that stuff. "

Oh My.... Where to Begin
My MIL, who is religious, sent me this email forward today. This is what happens to people who live in bubbles for most of their lives. Subject: How the Phone Should be Answered
Good morning, welcome to the United States of America .
Press "1" for English.
Press "2" to disconnect until you learn to speak English
And remember only two defining forces have ever
offered to die for you, Jesus Christ
and the American Soldier.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
I'm so offended and appalled by this email that I don't even know where to begin. I know. I'll start with my "reply to all" that I send back after reading this type of crap.
"I have two great grandparents that came her from Poland. I have a Grandmother and her brothers who also traveled here from other countries. My great grandparents never learned English. They came here to give their families a better life. I am here because of them. I am sure most of you have a similar story of family immigration. I ask that you all think twice before jumping quickly to judgment to those that are immigrating here in modern times. Every single person that is here in America today, comes from somewhere else.
I don't believe that Jesus would agree with this form of out casting people who are different than us, for our families too, were once new to this country. I for one feel very lucky to be born an American so I don't have to experience the terrible things that those in other countries experience on a daily basis. I thank God daily for the good fortunes that I have. Instead of out casting people that I don't understand because of a language, I choose to look at myself and ask "What can I do to help them learn and experience the things I love so dear about this country?"
The next time it bothers you that someone doesn't speak English, think of your own ancestors and how hard it must have been for them to learn a whole new culture. I for one would never slam the phone down on my Great-grandfather just because he doesn't speak English!"
I didn't bother to get into these points:
1. You don't even know if this "non-English speaker" is in the process of learning English. Maybe they are, and if you slammed the phone down on them, you aren't very Christian for trying to help a fellow child of God out.
2. Since when did God say it was alright to be your own judge?
3. Since when did God say it was alright to hold yourself of a higher standard than those around you?
4. Unless your ancestry is indigenous to this land, you too are an immigrant that spoke an language other than American English at one point in time.
5. JESUS DIDN'T EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH! So does that mean that the sender of this email would hang up on Jesus?!
6. Jesus didn't live in AMERICA, so why would he favor America over all other lands?
7. If Jesus and American Soldiers are the only ones willing to give up their lives for me, then how do you explain all the other races of mortalities that are reported on the news daily? It sure seems that there are more than American's loosing their lives for a cause they feel strongly about.
I could go on for a long time. But I won't because I'm at work, and it could take me all day. I really wish I would have put point 5 & 6 in my response though. But I sent it off before it got too long, and before my blood started to boil over.
