Anti-Stupidity

A girlfriend of mine had a quick discussion about  how she thinks I'm Anti-Baby.  My answer was, "No, I'm not anti-baby, I'm anti-annoying moms, and shitty parents."  And really, all that just rolls up into my Anti-Stupid People standard of life anyway.

Some examples of Annoying Mothers:
"OMG!  I'm pregnant!  You should get pregnant too!"
"OMG!  All I think about and talk about is baby anymore, and I have to torture you about it too! I also have no idea what's going on in the world, because all I care about is babies!"
"OMG! I used to have a brain, and used it, but now all I want to do is surround myself with babies and other mothers.  I don't need my "pre-baby friends" anymore."
"I can't leave my baby with a sitter while I go out and have some me time! How dare you even suggest that"
"Oh sure I'll meet you at the bar, It'll just take me 45 minutes to load all the baby gear in the car, and I and baby will be there in a jiffy."
"I just don't trust leaving my husband with the baby alone."

Some examples of Shitty Parents:
"Toddler, if you're good while mommies in the store, I'll buy you a toy."  While in the store toddler is a crazy loon, throwing temper tantrums and other.  Toddler still walks out with a toy.
"Go ahead baby, have another cracker while we're sitting in this nice restaurant.  You don't need a plate or a napkin either.  Just spread it around."  Family leaves and families booth is completely trashed.
"Mommy!  I want this!  Mommy I want that!  Mommy! Mommy!  Mommy!"  getting louder with each word.  Mommy is too busy talking with her friends to even acknowledge her child and lets child run crazy in public.

State Fair Day!

This weekend was pretty busy for the man and me.  Saturday we went to the county fair in town.  A friend was racing motocross, so it was fun to watch.  Sunday, I baked a turkey for lunch.  It was YUMMY.  Then, we had a pie and ice cream social that we helped out with.  It was a lot of fun working with all the old ladies from the church.  There were some girls there that were my age too, so we had some fun messing around with pies.

Then, after the pie social, DJ and I headed off to the State Fair in St. Paul. We stayed with my friend Jordan.  It was fun seeing her, I haven't seen her in what feels like FOREVER!  Then, when she left for work in the morning, DJ and I headed off to have some fun.  We got there around 10:00am, and left around 8:00pm.  Luckily, my friend Sarah and her family met up with us for a while while we went through a couple car booths.  So it took me a little longer to get bored with all that crap than it normally would.  Surprisingly, we actually enjoyed each other's company the whole time.  Not a single, "I'm sick of you, get away." moment.  This usually happens because he and I are totally different Fair going people.  I have destinations, and don't want to waist time getting from one place to another, and he, well, he really doesn't care where he goes, or how he gets there.  He also takes FOREVER to look at EVERYTHING.  Here's THE food tally.  I don't think I did as bad as I was expecting.

Me:
Blackberry Shake
Fried Pickles w/ Ranch
Chicken Kabob
Roasted Corn

DJ:
Chocolate Shake
Corn Dog
Fried Gator w/Gator Shaped Fries
Brownie

Seriously, that's all I can think of that we ate.  So that's a little disappointing.

We got back to town at Midnight, and I had to get up at 5:00am to drive back to FM to get ready for work.  I woke up with a sore throat, and today, I am admitting that I am sick.  Apparently, running around the fair and not getting enough sleep really messes with your immune system.  Bummer.

Potato Days!

I'm totally bummed.  I have to be in the Big W this weekend because the county fair is in town, and I promised DJ we could partake in the festivities.  Plus, his families church is being moved to a different area (They are merging with another church because there are not enough members.) and they are having an old fashioned ice cream social to raise money.  (Which we get to help out with.)  --Did you know that at an ice cream social, you have to make the ice cream and pies from scratch?  No store bought stuff?  Umm... Yeah, and of course, the men of the church came up with this idea, but the women of the church get stuck doing all the work.  How many pies have I made? ZERO.  Why?  Because I'm CATHOLIC, and therefore I hold myself exempt.  :o)  just kidding.  I just haven't made any yet. I suppose I will make a couple this weekend.

Anyhoo, ever since I have moved to this forsaken frozen tundra, I have heard of one thing that I thought would make me happy.  It's even been featured on the Food Network.  It's the Barnesville Potato Days!  It's sounds like so much fun!  Everything is centered around the potato.  And really, who doesn't love potatoes?!  French fries, curly fries, waffle fries, baked potatoes, dumplings...  They also do a bunch of activities centered around the potato.  I'm bummed that I have to miss it.  Sniff sniff.

Have I Lost My Edge?

Something has happened to me.  I think I no longer have a temper.  How is that possible?  I've had one for 30 years, how can it just be gone? I think I'm going to miss it.

Yesterday, my temper was tested severely when I got called into a meeting with these two men who "think" they are some sort of major influence to my YouTube project.  (They are not, they are just two people who are contributing out of about 100.)  Anyway.  I was supposed to just show them a couple videos so they could get an idea of what is going on.  I wound up in there for about two hours explaining things to them, and listening to their ideas.  (Which they think are fabulous, or that we haven't already thought about them, or that they are NECESSARY to implement immediately.  They aren't.) Without expunging details, at one point, one dude said something that I normally would have raged on him for.  Instead of me fuming inside and wanting to tell him off, I actually didn't even feel like telling him off.  Instead, I calmly explained to him why I know what I know, and why what I know is the reason we are doing the project the way it's being done.  (The details are boring, so I won't bother you with them.)  When I finally got out of the meeting, I headed to my manager's office to give her some updates on different things.  Once I told her what had happened, she was just as annoyed as I was.  But she told me I handled it well.  Phew. That's good to hear.

So this morning, as I'm recalling all of yesterday's annoyances.  I can't help but wonder, where did my rage go to? I so should have told that dude off.  Apparently, when you turn thirty, you lose some tude or something.  Or, is it something that happens to you when you move to the middle of no-mans-land? But I'm not worried about it.  I'm  sure my lovely hubby will do something to piss me off, and I will have to yell at him.  (I'll be forced to.) We haven't fought in a while, so I'm sure it's coming.  :o) ha!

Bears Eat Man at Beer Festival

BELGRADE, Serbia (Reuters) -- A 23-year old Serb was found dead and half-eaten in the bear cage of Belgrade Zoo at the weekend during the annual beer festival.

The man was found naked, with his clothes lying intact inside the cage. Two adult bears, Masha and Misha, had dragged the body to their feeding corner and reacted angrily when keepers tried to recover it.

"There's a good chance he was drunk or drugged. Only an idiot would jump into the bear cage," zoo director Vuk Bojovic told Reuters.

Local media reported that police found several mobile phones inside the cage, as well as bricks, stones and beer cans.

Boobalicious

Just like Fergie, I can spell.  And my own song today would be Boobalicious.  Today I dawned a very cute new top I hadn't wore yet that I bought when Kai and I had our little shopping binge a few months ago.  (Geez, it feels like forever ago!)  Anyway.  It's a super cute, brown baby doll top.  (Hides my fat well.)  I added a cute half cardigan to cover some of the girls.  When I left the house, it looked fine.  But when I got to the office, I felt like the girls were out too far.  Especially when I looked down.  So I decided I needed to change into something.  I didn't really notice anyone looking specifically at my tities, but I thought I better change anyway.  Add that I am moving my cube to another part of the building today and have to bend over to push boxes through the hall.  I thought it was just an overall good idea.

I  had to go to the big M to run an errand for one of my customers anyway, so I stopped in at Vanity to see what tee shirts they had on sale.  for $9.98 I bought a shirt that says, "So I hear you have a big tractor."  Totally cute.

Last night at work, do you know what I learned?  I learned that chlorine is hard on gold.  It makes it deteriorate more quickly, as well as dullens (is that a word?)  the shine.  So ladies and gents, keep them out of your Jacuzzis and pools if you want them to last.

I also learned that I should have received a peridot, a ruby, and pearls by now.  I can skip the pearls though, don't care for them much.

Random Topics

I am wearing a new color today! Kelly Green.  I for some reason don't have any green in my closet.  So Sunday when I got off work, I decided to do a little shopping for work.  I found a really cute silk wrap top that is black with Green chain like things running through it.  It's totally cute.  I also bought myself a really cute green sweater.  I look good in them both.  Of course.  Otherwise I wouldn't have bought them.  Duh.

I'm filling in for a lady that I work with tonight that came down with Pneumonia.  So this next paycheck, I'll have clocked 23 hours!  Holy crap!  That's a lot of hours for a part-time job.  But it will be nice since I am in serious need of cash.  Plus, the State Fair is coming up and I didn't get to go last year.  If I can't go to the MN one, then I definitely want to go to the TX one.  So I want to make sure I have plenty for wasting.

I had a weird dream this morning.  John Mayer was in my room when I woke up, half naked, showing his stupid tattoos and his terribly pasty upper body to me.  I guess he was trying to get me to make out with him or something, because he was really clingy, and when I got up to take a shower with him, he got really weird and annoying.  So when I got in the shower, I tried to lock him out, but he somehow got in and tried to get in the shower with me.  I kept trying to politely kick him out, but it wasn't working.  Then he starting crying and wanted to know why I didn't love him.  Then when I woke up, his stupid song was on the radio.  I don't like JM, so it was sort of a nightmare for me.  I hate the clingy, touchy feely, guitar playing, lead singer, whiny baby types.  This is how he comes off to me, although, if I ever met him, I'd give him a chance to prove me otherwise.

Work is still pretty hectic.  I really hope it pays off.  I've gotten a lot of recognition from my boss and other people I work with about how well they think I'm doing with these random projects.  So I hope that bodes well for me in the future.

Daily Dilbert

McDonalds

Has anyone been to Mickey D's lately?  (Besides Sarah, I already know you go about twice a week.)  Anyway.  I have not been to MD's lately.  It's been over a year and a half since I was there last, and I'm pretty sure I only ever ate there for breakfast before that. --Maybe I was there once with Sarah, I don't remember. Back to my story. I went to Kohl's to see what they had for cheap black attire (Macy's only allows black as their dress code, and surprisingly, I have very little black in my wardrobe.)  After that, I headed to Wendy's for a spicy chicken sandwich (Haven't had that in a while and that sounded REALLY good.)  I pull into the drive thru, and guess what?  They can't take credit cards today because of some problem with their internet.  Ummm... Ever hear of the good old fashioned hand swipe machine?  So, irritated and disappointed, I pull out of the line, and decide to head across the street to MDs.  First of all, they are A MACHINE.  There are two lines to take orders, and I'm about 5th car back.  I think I sat in that line for ohhh... a minute before I got to the order spot.  I wish Wendy's had a double order process.  It's sooo much faster, and the only Wendy's in town is so slow.  When I got back to the office and opened up my Chicken Club sandwich, I was surprised to see a very nice looking bun.  And it wasn't even squished!  The sandwich was really good too.  I am surprised and impressed.  Maybe I will start eating there more often.  OK.  No I won't, but next time I decide to treat myself and break away from eating healthy, I might actually consider stopping in there.

Last Night's Adventures

Cheers!

I bought gas at $2.79/gallon this morning!  Wow.  I feel like I'm totally back in 2001 or something.  It felt good.  I even actually filled my tank instead of stopping at $20.

Last night I worked.  And it really bit.  Actually, the lady I worked with was so much fun, I wish I always worked with her.  I work tonight all alone.  For the whole 3 hours.  :o(  Sniff.  I hope nothing goes wrong!  But what really bit about last night was that at 9:00 when I was heading home, it was pouring cats and dogs.  I had no umbrella, or jacket. So I just had to make a run for it.  By the time I reached my car at the far end of the parking lot, I was drenched.  COMPLETELY.  I had not a single dry spot on me. I think I'm going to need to go out and by a body covering poncho. The worst part is that I had my hundred something suede shoes on, so I took those babies off and put them in a plastic bag, so they wouldn't get ruined.  So I ran through the parking lot barefoot.  Thank goodness I didn't step on anything sharp!

Daily Dilbert

A coworker sent me this Dilbert. I think this is a good idea! I should try it. Love it!

Me Wants Some Sleep

I'm soooo frickin' tired today. I could not sleep last night at all.  I'd wake up and my arm hurt.  Then I'd wake up and my leg hurt. Then, I couldn't feel my arm.  Then, my ear hurt, and so on and so forth all night long.  When my alarm clock went off, I really did not want to get up. I hot snooze four times. The only reason I got up was because some stupid song was on the radio the last time it went off, and I had to use some energy to quick shut it off.  I'm fixin' to take some ephedra so hopefully I'll have some energy flow soon.

On other fronts.  I was inspecting my face in pictures last night.  I think it's slimming down.  I don't feel like I look so round anymore - In the face.  The last photo taken of me was May 19th at my uncles wedding. I still look pretty terrible in that picture.  I have a long ways to go, but I think if I took a picture of myself today, my face would look better.  I think I'll try to do that and see what happens. My butterfly hasn't moved much in the past two weeks.  Basically, I go up and down on the scale throughout the week.  Wednesdays are my "official recording" days.  I should probably move it to Fridays.  I seem to be lighter on those days. But I'm still losing.  Just not as quickly as I want to.  Ho hum. Maybe I'm just supposed to be fat....

Today

I woke up this morning and was really loving my life. I'm not too sure why today would be any more "spunky" than any other Monday, but it is. I'm still really busy at the office, but I seem to think I'm getting things into check with the new project. Which is really helping.  I was feeling pretty stressed for a while there.  I had to start micro managing for a while, but I think it's paid off.  People have stopped making up strange rumors about what they heard we are doing, and I have stopped hearing, "But I thought we were doing this..." in my meetings. For a while there, I thought I was managing high school girls. (Even though there are both men and women on my team.)

Want to hear an announcement?  OK.  Some of you have already heard.  I started a part-time position with Macy's. There are a bunch of reasons for this. The top ones are as follows:
1.  I feel like I'm broke all the time
2. I want money to spend without feeling guilty about spending it
3. I want to pay off some of my debt faster than I currently am
4. I actually miss retail
5. I miss the fashion world

The job seems very awesome so far.  I'm working in Fine Jewelry, which means I don't have any cloths to fold, or hang, or clean out of fitting rooms.  I also don't have to help anyone who has to do those things at the end of the night.  I basically shut down my station, and then clock out. It rocks.  It's just what I was looking for.

In Other News... Did I mention I was nominated Employee of the Month again?  Yep.  I was.  By two people this time.  My manager, and the manager over customer service.  Do you think I got it?  Nope.  Someone in the warehouse got it.  Who's ass do I have to kiss to actually win EOM?!  Seriously?  I was nominated once before, and now two people separately nominated me.  How many times does that happen?  Seriously.  SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!

What else can I tell you?  My friend Lisa is reading my blog these days.  That's nice.  I haven't seen her since my wedding.  I miss her.  Sigh.  Memories... In the corner of my mind!  Pretty water color memories!  Of the way, we were.........

Annoying White People

White people up here are so annoying up here.   They pretty much butcher any spoken language that isn't English. Actually, I can't even really give them all that credit, because the truth is, if it's not a word that they use all the time, then they will butcher the crap out of it.  Most of the time, they don't even acknowledge that they are pronouncing it wrong.  (Usually, I'm so embarrassed if I am using a word I don't know how to pronounce that I say something like, "I don't know how to say this, but..."  or "blah blah blah, or however you say that."  I think most of you've heard me do this.) They don't even try to pronounce it the right way, even when someone uses the word correctly.  Here are a couple examples.

Kashi.  How do you pronounce that?  KAH-she  right?  Up north, it's called KAY-SHE, or Ku-SHE, or any other way you can make those letters sound other than the way the company pronounces it.

I mentioned how great the Kashi brand of products was to my MIL one day.  I introduced it to  her as KAH-she.  She said she saw it in the store one day, and in the same conversation of me pronouncing it KAH-she, she called it KAY-SHE.   Whatever. I called it KAH-she a couple more times while we talked about it, but she won't get it.  It's forever engrained in her head as KAY-SHE.

Another one I have issues with is "Pico de Gallo".  That's Peeko-day-GUY-oh right? Nope, you're totally wrong.  It's Pick-O-day-GaLLow.  As in, we took him to the gallows to rot.  This one bugs me so much.

I was at Qdoba today (that's another one.  it's QUE-DOE-Buh.  right?  Nope.  It's Ki-doe-bay or Ki-do-buh here.)  Anyway.  The chick behind me orders Pick-O-day-GaLLow.  The server says, "Peeko-day-GUY-oh ?", The chick says, "Pick-O-day-GaLLow please."  Now, I really want to know whether or not she thought her word was something different than the servers word?  Like the server was trying to give her something else, and she for sure as heck didn't want any of that guy-O crap.  "yulk."  But that Gallow stuff!  That's pretty tasty.

I for one, would sure as heck not want anything from the Gallows.  Especially anything that could be eaten.  It'd probably consist of something bones and something flesh.  Yikes!

Minneapolis Bridge Collapses During Rush Hour

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20079534/?GT1=10252

So far, I've accounted for most of my loved ones that could have been in the area. Which could pretty much be anyone.
