Jimmy

Those that know me well, know that I am an office supply freak. I love anything to do with office supplies. Folders, sticky notes, highlighters.... You get me into Office Depot or Staples and I'll want one of everything. (This is also why I collected so much crap at the last conference that I was at.) Anyway, back to my point. Yesterday I finally used up one of my notepads from Pier 1. There they gave you notebooks that had your information on them. (They were really nice. I still have a box that I'm working through.) Instead of grabbing another P1 notebook, I decided to dig out some notebooks I had in a box that I found while cleaning up the storage unit. I'm digging through this box, and I come across a little green notebook with penguins on it.

I remember buying this notebook in Middle School at some book fair. (Did I also mention that I love bran new books? I know. I'm sort of a freak. And a geek at times. But a cool geek none the less.) Anyway. I decide it's time to use this notebook. I hadn't used it much when I bought it, because I liked it so much I didn't want it to run out. Makes perfect sense right? Plus, not just anyone could get a note from me on this note pad. Only special friends did.

So I pull out the pad, and on the back is a number to a guy named Jimmy. Think he still has the same number? Maybe I should call it. Well, I remember Jimmy. He was this hot football player that I met one day at school. In High School. I think it was sophomore year and he was a senior. He'd flirt with me, and walk me to class, but I always just ignored it because "As if! Like a totally hot football player would really be interested in a sophomore bank geek!" One day, he asked for my number, and I told him I'd call him. So I wrote his number down on the back of my little penguin pad. (Obviously he was SO special, that he needed to be written on the back of this "favorite" pad. So you see, I had this pad in my backpack even in HS.)

I remember talking to him on the phone almost nightly for a long time. I never went out with him because I didn't really think he liked me, nor did I really trust senior football players alone. Then he graduated, and the following year I'd run into him while he was back on campus for one thing or another. He still remembered me. Now that I look back. Maybe he really did like me. Who knows. He was hot though. Too bad I don't have a picture of him. Actually, maybe it's good I don't have a picture of him, because I'm sure my memories photo is much better than what the actual one would be anyway.

Holy Crap!

I guess I'm having a good week and didn't even realize it.  I went to a meeting, and when I came back there was a little St. Patties Day package on my desk.  So in my head I say, "Cool candy!  Wonder what this is for?"  I read the attached note.  Here is what it says:

"KB is the quintessential multi-tasker; she willingly takes on projects that range from exciting and challenging to tedious and routine. Her positive attitude and "can-do" spirit help solve problems...  KB effectively communicates with other departments in order to resolve issues.  She's also willing to share any technical information she has gleamed from her research about e-commerce and the industry, and she contributes many creative ideas to drive more traffic to these sites. KB's enthusiasm and professionalism make her a terrific asset to the company.
--Nominated by Anonymous, Web"

Holy Crap.  I almost cried.  I was nominated for employee of the month!  I've always wanted to nominated for EOM, but never have been.  I'm totally shocked.  All this time I have been thinking I am not effective and that I should be trying to get more involved with things that I can effect.  Wow.  I'm shocked.  Just shocked.  I don't know what to do.  Do I just shout out a big thanks to everyone on my team, since it's anonymous and don't know who it is?  I don't want to come off as gloating though.  So then do I just ignore this little package and pretend it doesn't exist?  I want to share the candy with everyone on my team though.  So maybe I do mention it to everyone and say, "Thanks!  Eat some candy!"  I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but it really makes my day.  Especially with the way I've been feeling lately.

Wow.....  sigh....  OK.  Back to work!  (Or maybe this means I don't have to work anymore???  ha!  Just kidding.)

Now I have to go weigh in at WW.  Yulk.  That's going to be bad news.  I just know it.

Girl Doctor

I'm filling out a form my Gynocologist sent me to fill out and bring in with me when I go tomorrow. This is a little strange for me, because normally, they just ask you a string of questions when you get in there. Seems a little impersonal. Hmm... We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Here are some of the questions:

Sexual Preference. Male/Female/Both.
Umm. Does who I get busy with really matter how my doctor looks at my vagina?

How long have you been with my current sexual partner?
Holy crap! I've been with him for 6 years!!!! Shit. I'm getting old. I remember when the longest I'd been with anyone was 6 months. That totally shocked me when I figured that one out. Wow. That's a long ass time.

How many sexual partners have you had in your lifetime?
The actual number, or the number I've rationalized away (with the help of my friend lilagirl)? She gave me this idea one day when I was asking her something about that topic. The whole conversation was completely hilarious. And completely rational I might add.

Age at time of first intercourse?
Why the hell does that matter? I'm old it doesn't anymore.

Weekend Update

This weekend I was TERRIBLE with the food intake. I think I ate pretty much one of everything in my house. I couldn't help it. And the worst part of it was, I didn't like most of what I ate. I'm in a food rutt. Nothing I eat makes me happy. Not even the foods I love. It's weird. I started adopting the mentality that if I am not going to completely enjoy what I put in my mouth, I'm not going to eat it at all. And that's how it's been for a couple weeks. Worked well.

This weekend. I have no idea what went wrong. DJ and I went grocery shopping and we bought only what was on my list. Plus stuff for his lunches. Then we went to Fleet Farm and bought some crap for his truck, and we wound up buying some Cinnamon Gummy Bears and Laffy Taffy. I opened the bears and ate a few in the store. Then closed them up. I was good. Then when we got home I think we both devoured 1/2 the bag. It was crazy. That's OK though. I figured I wouldn't eat much else until dinner. Well, sparing you the details. I wound up grazing all afternoon, then when the roast I was cooking was ready, I didn't even want it. But I ate some anyway. Small portions, but I shouldn't have eaten anything at all. I didn't even bother to weigh myself this morning because I know it'll be bad.

On another note. I think I have a bad tooth. It started to hurt the other day, and today it's really bad. Can't drink or eat anything that isn't the same temp of my mouth without it hurting. I just want to pull it out. Damn tooth!

Compliments

I just got the nicest compliment and it was from a complete stranger.  Well, she's not a complete stranger. I've seen her around the office, but don't know who she is, and don't work with her directly. Anyway.  I'm standing at the copier and she walks up and says, "I hope you don't take this rudely, but I admire your figure.  I wish I had it.  You always look good in the things you wear..."  I was totally surprised!  I told her that I was doing weight watchers to try to lose 30 pounds and she said she was trying something else to lose the weight.  I told her she totally made my day.

I should have also told her that anyone can look good clothed, the key just lies in picking the right kind of cloths for yourself. Maybe I will if I ever wind up talking to her again, and I have the right lead in.

OK.  I better get back to work.

Class

Thursday and Friday I was in class. I am taking some, let's call them, "Extended Education" classes to learn more about HTML and web design. I'm really loving it. I wish that when I was in college I had known more about this business.

I also noticed that I am a little bit better rounded than some other people in this field. For the most part, people are either technical or creative. I have discovered that I am both. Something I never thought was extraordinary until I started taking these classes. I really enjoy the technical side to things. (i.e. numbers crunching, spreadsheets, data driven analysis, and we can't forget my favorite... Charts and graphs.) I could analyse things for days and days. But I could also design and be crafty for days as well.

I've just taken the "101" courses for a few things, and I've learned some good tips. I'm glad I decided to mention to my boss that I'm interested in being more creative an influential at work. I'm also glad that she actually has taken action to help me with that goal. I'm now completely redesigning one web site (a small site, but still, it's a site, and it's all mine.), am Project Manager of another (of which I've completely designed and build part of the site that will go live in a couple months.), plus the stuff I'm taking on with the main site. All in all I'm a happy camper. The smaller projects are really what is keeping me interested.

Well, this is a pretty boring blog. So I'll get moving on.

WW Update

Much to my surprise, I actually lost weight in this past two weeks. I was pretty happy. I lost 1.8 lbs. That moves my scale down a little. Although it's not exactly the amount I'd like to have lost by now. The original plan was 2.5 per week. Well, I've been averaging .71 per week. That's not good. But I figure so long as I continue to lose each week, I'm still being successful. Just maybe not as successful as I'd like to be. If I wanted to meet my 30 pound goal within the alloted time frame, I'd have to lose 4.1 lbs a week. I'm going to go ahead and say, "That ain't going to happen." :o(

Breaking Friendships

Well... Sadly, I have to announce that I am breaking ties with my oldest known friend. She screwed up, and she screwed up bad. She failed to notify me that Girl Scout cookies were on sale. Not only did she fail to tell me this, her kids orders are already in! I can't believe it. She's trying to keep me from my Thin Mints! What a bitch!

I guess I'll be ordering from a couple women in my building. Since I'm supposed to not eat bad things, I'm not sure if I'll get my normal 19 boxes. But it'll have to be enough to get me through the year. Maybe I'll order 12. One per month. That sounds reasonable doesn't it?

An Arguement for Condoms

Scrap Booking

My husband is starting to recognize my scrap booking vendors. Sadly, he's got marked in his brain the most expensive stuff too. One brand in particular is in his mind. Sizzix, which is an expensive cut-out system that provides die-cuts for nicer pieces. The other day he saw that I was looking at a Sizzix receipt. (I order products online straight from the company. It's cheaper.) So he asks me, "What is that?", and I say, "Nothing", and he says, "I see that that's a receipt from that expensive Sizzix stuff. Did you buy something?" Me, "No, just looking at an old receipt." (lies) They had a really great sale on some stuff I've been wanting for my wedding scrapbook. So I bought $90 worth of stuff for $50. Great deal!

I am going to guess that my friend Kai is now saying, "Club KB, why so many lies? Why?" Well my friend, I'll tell you why. It's just easier that way. My husband forks over thousands of dollars on all his expensive gadgets, yet if I spend $100 on something he deems unworthy, I receive a bunch of grief for it. So when I lie about it, I save my husband some breath. And really, it's all about making sure my man is comfortable. And if he's using his breath to spew out useless chatter, then it's my duty as the wife to do all I can to prevent that. Besides, he just bought himself a GPS system that wasn't cheap, and is installing auto start in his truck today. So if I want to spend a bunch of money on scrap booking crap, I will by golly!

Meatloaf

The man wanted meatloaf last night, so I made my very first ever meatloaf.  I didn't realize that meatloaf had ketchup in/on it.  (Well, at least the Betty Crocker version did.)  Yulk.  I do however, think that it might be edible with a different type of sauce.  If I have to make another one, I'll be experimenting with all that.  DJ totally loved it though.  Go figure.

Freebie Whore

I love free stuff. It’s great!

Some of the vendors at this conference give away some pretty good stuff. Plus, each night I got different goodies left in my room from a different sponsor of the conference. One night was a Mrs. Fields cookie, another night (Valentines Day) I got a little treasure hunt box full of goodies, and a note that said to go to a certain URL and see what I won. I won a $25 gift certificate to Staples. Woo hoo! Now I can definitely buy that wireless mouse I was wanting, but didn’t think I needed. Now I totally “need” it. Plus, the hotel left me two candy hearts on my pill with a note saying something like, “We hope this makes your stay a little nicer.” Now I can definitely buy that wireless mouse I was wanting, but didn’t think I needed. Now I totally “need” it.

He’s a picture of my loot. I forgot to add in there the 3 tee shirts, and another note book.
In the picture are:
a stuffed gecko, a stuffed cheata, AM/FM radio, USB multi-port, squishy monkey head, squisy fish with clip, twizzlers, sunscreen, golf ball that blinks when you hit it, calculators, a book, Madagascar DVD, a leather bound notebook, and a bunch of pens.

Ahhh, This is the Life!

The conference ended at noon today. Which means that I have exactly 24 hours to do as I’d like here at the resort. After spending 2 hours reading my complimentary copy of USA today, sipping on an ice cold Corona and occasionally cooling myself off by taking a dip in one of the 5 pools, I decided to pick myself up some sushi and a Mocha Frappaccino. Then head back to my room to sit on the balcony overlooking the pool and eat drink and be merry. I’m so relaxed. It’s fabulous. The only thing that could make this better would be. A. To have my man here. (I’d really like to take a gondola ride around the resort/golf course, but no one to do it with. Plus, I have this king sized bed I’d like to have my way with him on.) and B. To not have this cold that keeps me breathing out of my mouth, blowing my nose, and not able to taste the fabulous food to it’s fullest.

Well, I better go. There is a $10 bottle of Cuervo Margarita in my mini bar that is calling to me. I think I’ll finish that off, then take a walk around the golf course. Or maybe I’ll take a nap, then finish off that bottle, then walk around the golf course, then come back and order room service for dinner. Then maybe head down to one of the two hot tubs and have another drink.

Did I mention the mountains are beautiful from my balcony? I’ll post pictures later, but I doubt they will do any justice to how beautiful this place really is right now.

Monday

I am currently sitting in sunny californ-I-A where the current evening temperature is a warm 70 degress. Woo hoo! God I love the sun! I think the high in that shithole state that I live was nego 3. I shouldn't be to hard on the state. After all, it is very comfortable and beautiful in the summer. For about 3 months.... (Chanting, I love DJ, I love DJ, I love DJ...)

I came down with my co-worker's cold. So Saturday and Sunday I tried to take it easy to sort of delay the terrible. Today's 5 hours of plane rides really didn't help me. My ears were about to explode on the decent into Palm Springs. But it was all worth it when I stepped out of the tiny plane onto the tarmack, and walked myself into the airport. The hallways to the terminals have no roof. Of course, in the land of the sun they don't need roofs.

In case you're all wondering. I think Jax is going to make it. She started pooping for real yesterday. And eating on her own. Which makes me very happy because I know DJ was not looking forward to having to force feed her baby food. I tried to be like Tom Sawyer and make it look like oodles of fun. But sadly, I don't think my husband is as gullible as ole Huck Fin. Saturday night I set the baby food down on the floor and she started eating it out of the bowl. I was like, "WHAT!? YOU mean to tell ME that I might not have had to CRAM this crap down you, and fight with you for the past week?!" I was not too happy because I have gotten a lot of my favorite cloths full of orange colored baby food, and have been smelling baby food wherever I go for days now. So instead of pumping it down her throat, I put it in a bowl, and left in her cage over night. In the morning the bowl was licked clean. Go figure!

I think I'm going to head to bead early tonight. Hopefully my nose won't be as red as rudolf's in the morning. I'm so tired of sneezing and blowign my nose!

Comliments are Grand

I just got a great compliment!  My Director is also doing WW, and she came back into my office just to see how my weigh in yesterday went.  I told her "just a pound."  And she was like, "Great!  I can tell, you look thinner, are you feeling it in your cloths yet?"  So I said, "Thanks!  Yesterday my pants felt lose, but I thought it was because it was on my second wearing without washing them."  She then said, "I think it's because you've lost."

Wow!  I feel great!  Even though it's only 3 pounds.  I wonder if I really do look like I've lost anything?  I don't think so.  I think I'll go home, wash my jeans, and put them back on.  That's the only way to find out.

Now that I have a little time, I thought I'd update you on my heat situation, and Jax.

First. Negative 16 here today. Yep. A balmy nego 16. Wow. I should get out my bathing suit and sunbath on my deck. I came home yesterday at 2:00 to take Jax to the doctor. Luckily my heat was on. Woo hoo! (For now. I'm pretty skeptical that it will stay fixed. Time will tell.) I did wake up at 4:00 because I was having a dream that the maintenance man was checking out something in my cupboards and he kept slamming the door, opening it, slamming it. He did this four times before I woke up and realized that it was Jax thumping in her cage. So I laid there worrying that if I got up I might see something I don't want to see. When I mustered up enough courage to go into the living room, I noticed that the temp had fallen two degrees below where I set it. And no heat was running. So that ticked me off because I thought, "Here we go again! Bastards." After I tended to Jax, I layer in bed stewing in anger about my heat situation. Then after bout 20 minutes of this, the heat kicked on. I got up and felt it. It was warm. So I stopped being ticked. - For now.

Now on to the saga of bunny.

If you don't want to read a long post, here is the short:

  • Took her to vet
  • Got meds
  • Little bit of poop, but not much yet. Still hoping.

For those of you who like details, here is the long:
She wasn't very energetic when I picked her up at 2:00 to go to the doctor. The vet wound up giving her an IV of something to help her hydrate. (Right in the back. Ouch!) There must have been something in there to make her feel better too, because on our way home, she was already a little uplifted and playing with her rolly-ball. The vet gave me two different medications. One is an antibiotic and the other is something to help her not have an upset stomach. She also told me I have to feed Jax all this:

  • 2 - 4oz jars of baby veggie food spread out into 3-4 times a day.
  • 1 tbsp (5 syringes full) of pineapple juice twice a day. Which turns out to be (10 syringes full!!!)
  • 2-3 tbsp (10-15 syringes full) of water a day.

Do your realize how much food that is for a little tiny bunny?! Last night I only gave her 1/2 the pineapple juice and then the water. This morning as I was stuffing her full of baby food, I could hear her tummy all girbly and glupy as I fed her. I stopped after 4 syringes and said that was close enough. I only could feed her 2 syringes of pineapple juice because she refused to swallow anymore after a while. I felt like I was just pumping her full of stuff and she was going to explode if I kept going! For those of you who don't know. Rabbits graze all day long. They don't binge on tons of food at a time. I'm going to have to call the vet on my way home at lunch to see if this is actually right. It seems like way too much.

She was starting to eat a little bit on her own last night. I didn't see her drink any water yet though. :o( Last night she did poop a little, but not enough to put her in the clear. :o( I'm hoping now that I pumped her full of liquids that she has a big ole pile of poop waiting for me when I get there at noon. Who knew I'd ever be hoping for her poo to make an appearance.

WW Update

Well, I lost a whole pound.  That's it.  Just a pound.  I should be losing 2.5 a week.  I've missed that two weeks in a row.  That means I have to lose exactly 3 pounds a week from here on out.  Do you think that is going to happen?  Well, take into consideration that all next week I will be at a business conference in Palm Springs at some fancy resort.  This could work for me or against me because I won't be at home which means I won't have nasty snacking habits.  But I'll likely be taking in more alchy-hol than usual, as well as whatever goodies they stick in front of my face at the resort.

Breakfast at these things is usually bagels and fruit that isn't quite ripe, so I'm planning on bringing some Fiber One Bars that my department has discovered are quite tasty, thou hard to find.  They are high in fiber, and depending on the flavor either 2 or 3 points.  They are good and really fill you up.  I figure I'll also bring some snacking yum yums with too for times when I want something and all my choices are terrible.  The lunches are usually pretty boring anyway so they don't worry me too much.   They are usually that hotel plated crap where you could eat 3 plates worth.  You know, where they give you 3 steamed string beans, a super thin chicken breast with a dash of some sort of white sauce over top, and the occasional unrecognizable, ineditable vegetable decoration.  You know the standard "wedding reception plate".  So really, I'm most worried about the booze.  Like I'm not going to drink while I'm socializing with people.  And they have social hours planned all week long.  Fun ones too.  So we'll see how it goes.  If I come out of it the same weight I'll consider it a success.  If I actually lose weight.  I'll totally be ecstatic!

The Wonderful World of Sub-Degree Temperatures

I haven't written anything for a few days.  So let me give you a synopsis.

Monday the temperature was NEGATIVE TWENTY-THREE degrees out.  The high got to like negative ten.  I woke up to no heat in my town home.  Yep.  You heard me.  No heat.  So I wound up spending 1/2 of my work day at the house cleaning, watching the View (Which I think is totally annoying btw), and waiting for the dude to fix it.  By about 11:30, and two trips to the store later, he proclaimed, "It's running!" from my garage.  So I hollered back, "Yippee!".  I then waited for the place to heat up before heading back to the office.  This time at home though, allowed me to finish construction on my laptop sleeve for my next business trip.  So all was not completely lost.

Today, which is Wednesday, the temperature is NEGATIVE TWENTY-FOUR.  (Why did people settle here?  Why?)  Want to know what I woke up to?  If you guessed no heat.  You'd win a prize!  I am pissed.  So I called my apt office, and hopefully the dude is out there right now fixing it.  Back to this morning.  I was moving Jax out of the living room and into my bedroom. (Hiding her from da'man.)  I noticed that there was no poop in her cage. While normally I'd be very happy to not see poop.  I realized that this meant something was wrong with her because I cleaned that cage on Monday night, and there is no poop.  I noticed that she had also not eaten any food from last night either.  She did eat a carrot I gave her, and a yogurt treat, so at least she ate something last night.  But this morning, she wouldn't take a treat, nor would she eat her carrot.  (Two things she usually freaks out in excitement to get.) So something's wrong with her.

To top all this off, my co-worker came in late yesterday because she came home to a screaming cat.  Her cat had been having trouble pooping for a couple days, and this was the last straw for that poor cat, because she says she's never heard him scream like that before.  So she rushed him to the Vet, and he had to have emergency surgery.  Had he not had the surgery, he wouldn't have made it through the night.  So that really freaks me out, now that Jax seems to be having a similar problem.

So today I will be bringing my bunny to the vet and dropping $100 that I don't have. Fun days, eh?

This Guys Hot

This guys hot. I don't even care much about his ramblings. He can come site on my toilet and sing any time. Just so long as he doesn't try to phylosiphise to deeply with me.

Boston Follies

If you haven't heard about the haps in boston. This pretty much sums it up
