Crap Television Duplicate

Hi All,
I have no idea why my entry on Crap Television was posted twice. Something strange with blogger I guess! I thought I'd delete one, but I've got comments attached to both, so I'm keeping them.

And BTW, just because I watch tv doesn't mean I am lazy. Judging by some of your comments, some of you must not have ever heard of multi-tasking. And of course we all have those days when we want to do absolutely nothing for a while. If you say "I never want to do nothing", you're lying.

I'd also like to send a shout out to an old friend of mine, who I think is a new post. (If she's posted before I didn't know it was her!) So welcome, shall we call you Lindsey? (My old boss from Foley's/Macy's), to my blog! Long time no talk! How come you never answer your emails!?

Moxie Java

I found a new cute Coffee Shop that I think I'm going to frequent more often than Starbucks. It's right next to my house, and it's called Moxie Java. Not only is it more "homy" than Starbucks, but the older man behind the counter was so pleasant and nice, I just wanted to give him my business. Then, I order a Cafe Mocha, and he asks me if I want any syrups in it? So I say, OK. splash some caramel in there. So he then tells me about their most popular drink the Milky Way. It's definately yummy!

Moxie Milkee Way
Try Moxie Java®'s original Milkee Way Mocha to warm things up a bit.
Chocolate and caramel added to our amazingly smooth espresso, is there anything more inviting? To learn what makes our espresso drink taste so good

Then he hands me the drink and tells me to taste it. They have the absolute coolest cover to their cups! This feature alone causes me to want to repeat my business. The cover has this little sliddy mechanism that puts a cover over the little hole so you don't spill it on the way out. As my friend Jordan can vouch. Whenever I buy a mocha from Starbucks or Caribou, the stupid coffee jumps out that little hole and somewhere onto my body. It almost never fails! Through no fault of my own too! It's even jumped out that little hole onto Jordans car when I wasn't even holding it! I love the lid on my Moxi Java Milky Way! Go Moxi!

Does anyone have a preferance with coffee shops? Do you prefer big chain, or mom and pop stores? Does it really matter?

Crap Television

Is anyone else out there tired of the stupid programs they have on TV right now? OK I have to admit that I was sucked into the hype with "So You Think You Can Dance", (Love me some Benji!), but I draw the line at America's Most Talented or whatever that crap is called with David Hasselhoff as a judge. There's another one out there just like that one with Oksana baiul. Equally anoying. And don't even get me started on "super nova's" (not capitalized for a reason.)attempt to repeat INXS's magic with Rock Star. Then that brings me to Celebrity Duets. . . I better not even start. . .

On the nights that I just want to veg out and watch me some good tv, there is nonthing, nadda, ziltch. These are usually my Mondays and Tuesdays. My usually good tv nights, those of which I look forward to, Wednesday and Thursday have also gone to crap. Of course I cling on to reruns of Greys Anatomy on Thursday nights to keep my spirits up. But I have to say that I am very tired of crap on television. I can't wait until the fall lineup starts. I got excited when I saw a commercial that said Greys Anatomy returns on September 21st. I even marked my calendar for it. The amount of excitement that little bit of information gave me was insane. I probably should seek proffessional help. I even called my Grey's Anatomy buddy Jordan to make sure I heard it right.

I've resorted to flipping over to the Comedy Channel to watch last nights taped episodes of John Stewart and The Colbert Report unit 8:00 when I try to turn it back to network television where I'm still dissapointed with crap.

I can say that all this crap television has caused me to get a lot of crafts and projects done that I had on my list. So it's not all bad. Plus, I have added Nip Tuck to my Netflix list of shows to start watching when I need that good tv veg break.

So all that being said, what are you looking forward to seeing this fall? Here are the shows I'm totally stoked to watch.

Will Watching Religiously:
Grey's Anatomy (of course)
ER (Even without Noah Willy I'm still a fan)
Boston Legal (Love me some SpaderShat or maybe Shader)
Lost (It took me a while to get into it, but now I'm hooked)

The Office (Good for making my office look really good)
Earl (I just like to not have to think hard but still get a good laugh)

the OC (Sadly, I'm looking forward to a season without Marissa, but unless they move it to a new time, I'll only be watching during Grey's Anatomy commercials. . . Until I get a Tivo Maybe I'll just watch it when the season comes out on DVD)

Shows I plan to check out:
6 Degrees (looks good)
Studio 60 or whatever it's called with Matt Perry in it, I hope is good for his sake.
30 Rock - That other studio show with Alex Baldwin looks promising
Biggest Looser 3
Justice - Might be an interesting spin on tv and the justice system

Shows I wish I could Watch But I'm too Old to Stay up That Late:
Conan Obrien (I miss his reruns on the comedy channel)

My Country Weekend

Good morning everyone! Sorry I haven't written in a while, but I've been in a bit of a writers slump. I've got plenty to discuss, but nothing that I want to spend the time writing about. Know what I mean?

This weekend the county fair was in town. Saturday DJ rushed me out of my slumber to get us to a demo derby. OK. It was 1:00 but I was really wanting to sleep and fool around all day. Apparently the demo derby was more exciting. So we get there, pay $3 to get into the fair, then pay $8 to get into the demo derby. Oh, I also paid another $2 for my hotdog. County fairs are cheap! I love it! Last year I spent about $200 at the State Fair. Anyway... not my point.

Have you ever been present at a demo derby? It's quite funny. People line up their cars in this little area, and then they go at it, slamming into eachother until there is only one guy left running. I didn't think I'd actually think it was fun, but it actually was. There were three heats. little cars 4-6 cylinders, then there were the pickups, and for the grand finally, there were the big boys. 8 cylinder cars. I didn't bring my camera, so you won't be seeing any pictures, but I really wish I would have brought it. It was hilarous! Plus, DJ got slapped in the eye with a piece of flying mud. I totally thought it was going to bruise and puff up. I laughed so hard at him with mud in his eye. ha ha ha! I'm laughing again now just thinking about it! It was also pretty funny because we were in the last row of the stands.

Then on Sunday we took out the horseys for a little ride. I haven't ridden horse since last year. We have been so busy this year that the poor ladies (and 1 boy) have been niglected. My ass hurts so bad. Apparently I squeeze my ass together when I ride. Oh! My poor aching body! I'll post pics of the horses later. I don't have any at the office.

What Did He Just Say?

Report: Young Resigns Wal-Mart Post Due to Remarks Deemed Racist
BENTONVILLE, Ark. (August 18) -- Longtime civil rights activist Andrew Young is resigning his post as chairman of Working Families for Wal-Mart due to controversy over remarks he made that were deemed racist, according to media reports.

The retailer hired Young early this year as a spokesman to help improve its public image.
Young’s decision to step down was prompted by a report in the Los Angeles Sentinel, in which Young was questioned about the perception that Wal-Mart has put small mom-and-pop stores out of business. “Well, I think they should; they ran the ‘mom-and-pop’ stores out of my neighborhood,” he told the Sentinel. “But you see those are the people who have been overcharging us—selling us stale bread, and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they’ve ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it’s Arabs; very few black people own these stores.”

Young apologized for his statements, but said they were misinterpreted.
“I think I was on the verge of becoming part of the controversy, and I didn’t want to become a distraction from the main issues, so I thought I ought to step down,” Young told the Associated Press.

In a statement, Wal-Mart said, “Ambassador Young’s comments do not represent our feelings toward the Jewish, Asian or Arab communities or any diverse community. Needless to say, we were outraged when the comments came to our attention. We were also dismayed that they would come from someone who has worked so hard for so many years for equal rights in this country.

“Ambassador Young has done the right thing to apologize and to ask for a retraction. We also support his decision to resign from the post of chairman of Working Families for Wal-Mart. The Ambassador has asked for forgiveness. Though there is no justification for his comments, we do hope that people will reflect on the contributions he has made throughout his life, not just this one unfortunate and regrettable incident.”

Something tells me this didn't help Walmart with their image problem. . .

Do You Know Your A & B Vitamins?

A/Beta-Carotene, D, E, K are all your A Vitamins
What are they good for?
A - Vision
D - Bone Growth
E - Antioxidants
K - Blood Clotting/prenatal care/bone formation

Beta-Carotene causes lung cancer in smokers.

All A vitamins are also fat soluable which means your body will store them if you have too many and use later. Vitamin E is a member of the tochopherol family, of which Alpha tocopherol is the most active.

Now on to the B Vitamins
B1 - Thiamin
B2 - Riboflavin
B3 - Nioxine
B5 - Pantothenic Acid
B6 - Pridoxine
B12 - Cyanocobalamine
Folic Acid
Biotine
Inositol
Choline
Paba - para amino benzoic acid

What are they good for? Energy. They are water soluable, so your body needs them more frequently.

What does this all mean to you? Nothing really I guess, unless you were wondering. I just thought I should torture you while I study for my vitamin test.

This Booger in My Nose

I have this booger in my nose and I can't get it out. It keeps tickling me, so I keep sneezing. But it won't come out. I tried blowing, blowing hard, blowing even harder, and even picking it, but there is nothing to pick. I can't take it! How can I get it out so I stop sneezing?

I also feel like everyone can see that I have a booger tormenting me, so I have been avoiding people.

MMM Corn

Doesn't that look tasty? We picked the first of our Sweet Corn this weekend. I never knew there was such a big difference in store bought sweet corn, and home grown sweet corn. But take my word for it. There is a BIG difference. This weekend we had corn as our main course, and Monday I had it again. I've already gone online and found a couple corn recipes. One home made corn bread, and one for corn cake. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

I decided to add a link to a photosite that I have been using to share some photos. Feel free to check out the Album named "Life on the Farm" at this link. I'm also going to add it to my links to the right of my blogs.

Enjoy.

Having a Good Day, and it's only 10:00!

I'm having a fabulous day in the workplace. I've actually had a good week in the workplace. I have been researching companies to bring on board to assist us with entering the Japanese market. It's been pretty exciting for me because I am the project manager for the web team. I've narrowed down the companies to two, and presented the information to the team today. I was a little worried because I didn't know how much information they wanted to know and whatnot.

--Sidebar, someone is vacuuming the hallway, and the noise is really driving me nuts!--

So I just started talking about them, and why I was leaning toward one more so than the other. And blah blah blah. So then I finish talking, and they all have smiles and are responding with good questions that I can actually answer, and then the Director asks me to come up with a timeline, and I say, "Well, I've got one that I created with just guesstimates for now, and of course the timeline will change as things become more permanent. I'm looking at "best case scenario" 6 months to go live date." Then I rattle off the timeline, and people were impressed. Then I said, the next thing I want to do is get a small team of Marketing and Web together to discuss the look and feel of the site, and she said, "Set it up, your the lead."

Feels pretty good. Especially since my last job really sucked in the "allowing a person to think" category.

I really think if I can pull this project off (Which I will) I'll have the confidence I need to either pursue that other company that I turned down because I was worried it was too much for me, or start my own. In the mean time, the more experience the merrier.

Dead Rabbits and all That Jazz

My dad just emailed me and told me that my sister's rabbit died last night. It's very sad. That rabbit has been around for years. I think maybe nine or ten to be exact. She has had it ever since she was engaged to that dude. So yeah, it's got to have been that long.

Well, most of you know the drama of my sister and me. (and if you haven't, then you obviously don't read my blog. Whatever!) A couple weeks ago, I don't know why, but I emailed her about a sale some craft store was having on scrapbooking crap. My sister is very into that, and like I said, I have no idea why I emailed her about it. Other than I had a momentary laps in judgment. As you know (my dedicated readers anyway) every time I extend the olive branch, it comes back to slap me in the ass. So I have closed all doors and windows to that tree. This has worked well for me, and why I opened them up again, I am sure I'll be reminded soon.

So now I have to send out an email, or call her even, to tell her I'm sorry to hear about her rabbit. It is the decent thing to do. But I really don't want to extend yet another branch, because the more I do that, the higher my risk of getting the fingers, hand, arm, holding said figurative branch scratched, broken, or ripped off. But I did it anyway. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite me too hard later.

I know it will, because it always does. What's that phrase? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me? Well... at least I'm prepared for it when it does come back around.

I Got a Free IPod! I Got a Free IPod!

My coworker just bought herself the new video IPod. She told me she was thinking about buying it last week, and I told her that I'd buy her old one off of her. Well, she ordered her new one and got it yesterday. She gave me her old one. Gave it to me! She got it as a gift from our CEO for doing some personal work on his computer a while back, so she gave it to me because she wasn't out any money in the first place. Isn't that nicee?! So now I have a 40GB IPod. Woo hoo!

So I'm totally excited. It's an older model, but what do I care? Since it's my first one, I wouldn't notice the difference anyway. I've been wanting an IPod for some time now, but can't seem to justify the cost since I have many other more important things to purchase first. So I can't wait to get to downloading stuff to it! The only thing is I have to buy a USB cord for it because it came with a firewire, and I don't have a firewire plug on my laptop. Since I don't have a stereo, I might just wind up buying one of those speaker/docking stations so I can listen to it at home. I also need a car adapter, so I can listen to it in the car. This is so exciting!

Horny for Some Dierks

I don't usually find Dierks Bentley attractive at all from just looking at him. But I love his voice. It's totally sexy. And ever since I've seen him in concert with Kenney Chestney, I get a tingling in my loins when I hear him on the radio. Is that so wrong? I think not. He was totally hot in concert. It's more in the way he moves and engages the audience that makes him hot. I don't know. But it's hot.

I finally ordered my free CD's from BMG music, and I ordered his Modern Day Drifter CD. I'm listening to it at work with my headphones. I'm totally lovin' it. I hear his voice and pretend it's on someone hot. Preferably tall dark and handsome.

Ok. He's hot here with his dog.

And, Ok. He's hot here just standing there. But I think that's because, if you notice... He fills out his package very well. And we all know how kb loves herself some full package. :o)
