Twenty-Four Hours!

That's exactly the amount of time left until I pick Kai up at the airport. Whoo Hoo! I have no idea why the butterfly on my ticker hasn't moved, but I haven't had time to look into it either.

We have an itinerary and everything. I can't wait! It's going to be a tiring weekend, but it's going to be so much fun! On the agenda:

Shopping Shopping Shopping! Plus some clubbing, eating, drinking, and some outdoor things too. The weather should be pretty good for most of the weekend, so that should work well too!

I can't wait! I'm taking a half day tomorrow so I can get to the cities in time. Woo hoo!

I'm totally broke right now, so I'm going to have to do some rearranging of money on my credit cards. Shhhh... Don't tell my husband. Actually, he just bought himself a new four wheeler, so go ahead and tell him! He owes me at least half the value of that four wheeler in things I like for me anyway!

Your Daily Education

My SIL told me about an episode of Oprah where some Doctor was talking about Pin Worms.  She then decided to tell me all about them.  It's pretty nasty stuff.  It's some sort of worm, that gets into your intestines, and then crawls out your ass and lays eggs at night.  EEEEEWWW!!!  She really needs to stop watching crap on television.  :o)  I'll be thinking twice next time my ass itches that's for sure!

Check It Out!

I'm an M&M! Checkout my blogger image to the right. Aren't I hot as an M&M?

Well! That Was an Interesting Night!

Last  night, my parents were supposed to fly out at 6:30pm.  We dropped them off at the airport at 5:30 and went on our merry way.  Two hours later, my mom calls me.  I'm thinking, "They can't be home yet.  Can they?"  So I answer the phone, and they are still in the airport. Apparently, the storm that we had last night caused the airport to cancel their flight.  Which sucked for them because they sat in the airport for a long time, then had to stand in line to rebook their flight for about another hour and a half.  DJ headed back to the airport around 10:00 to pick them up.

So that was fun.  I had my first overnight guests!  Woo hoo!

Weekend Update

I came to one conclusion this weekend. I really enjoy partying with my cousins. One cousin is so much fun once he's drunk, I can get him to dance with me. And he's a good dancer. We do the flips and turns and everything. He's "too cool" do do it when he's sober. He's probably the only guy who could flip me since I'm the size of a small dinosaur. (FYI: He's the size of a Medium dinosaur. If we're using that analogy.) Then, another one of my cousin's husband who usually comes across as a big cocky SOB, I like him when he's sober just because we can pick on each other and have fun. The more drunk he gets the louder he gets. (I've heard I do this as well, but he REALLY gets loud.) Plus, word on the street is that he likes no one. However, he likes me. Some days, my cousin won't be able to get him to come out until she says I'll be there. Then he goes. So the guy can't be all bad if I'm the light of his life right? My other cousin, (Who is the first cousin's brother, and the size of a large dinosaur) is also a lot of fun, and when he gets drunk he's usually good for a free couple rounds of drinks. :o) Then I have a lot of other cousins that I ran around and had fun with all weekend. My BIL was even fun. He's not so much fun when he gets drunk because he's a sloppy drunk, but when he's right in the middle between drunk and waisted, he's usually good for some fun. He's a terrible dancer but he tries. It's very funny to watch. Good cheap entertainment. I was also pretty impressed with my prego SIL. She hung out with us for most of the evening. I don't know if I could stand a bunch of drunk people if I was sober. But she seemed to be having a pretty good time.

On other family fronts, my sister was surprisingly not too bad. But then again, I made sure not to be around her too much too. Most annoying comment all week, "My dogs aren't that bad." While one was chasing a poor little puppy around, another was chewing on a chair, and the other was crossing in front of her feet and tripping her. You weren't there, but it was pretty classic, "My sister is oblivious to the world around her" moment. She brought those stupid dogs everywhere. I could bitch about this for hours so to make you understand the true depth of the issue, but I won't. But believe me, at the end of it all, you'd be agreeing with me that she's clueless about anyone or thing other than herself. Right down to her poor boyfriend. I found him sitting at a table by himself several times throughout the evening while she disappeared to go check on the dogs. (Yes, that's right, she can't even leave them alone somewhere for the evening.) I had to keep sending people over to talk to him, or bringing him over to whatever group looked like they were having the most fun. I have to say, he's not as much fun as he used to be. She's definitely sucked most of the life out of him. Poor guy.

For the Love of Netflix

I just finished going through my Netflix, adding new movies and rating my most recently viewed movies. Do you know how many movies I have in my Queue? 252! Holy crap. I'd say we watch an average of 2 movies a week this time of year. That'd take us 126 weeks to watch everything in there! That's two and a half years. Dang. I've got to get to watching.

Weekend Updates

The Weekend: So I had a great weekend! I ordered a few plants from Michigan Bulb Company for the house. I had been trying to decide on what kind of garden border to put in, and decided to go the free route. So I headed out to one of DJ's rock piles where I picked out 25 feet of rocks. (My right arm is tired from throwing them out of the pile.) More on how that went later.

The man seemed to be pretty happy to see me when I showed up to the farm-Which isn't too abnormal. He took me to where he buried Jax, where I cried once again. Then we walked around and hunted down kittens. The mama cats are pretty good at picking secluded places to have them, so it's sort of like easter egg hunting. But for kittens. We found a couple batches. I think he is expecting me to pick one out. Ummm....Big fat NO! I don't want to bring home anything that I have to leave for a weekend that could possibly croak on me. Unless it's a fish or two. (Because who really gets emotionally attached to fish?) Then he proceeds to tell me that he bought another four wheeler. (Which is partly why he was so happy to see me. He was trying to butter me up.) Yep. We're so poor I can't have my new arm chair, or book shelves, or computer monitor, but we're not too poor for him to buy himself a four wheeler (used though it may be). It's alright though. I see at least book shelves in my future. My NEAR future. I knew it was coming though, and in his defense, it was a good deal, and when you find a good deal, you can't turn it down. Which is exactly the logic I'm going to use when I point out my $300 book shelves next time Hom has a 10% off sale. "Honey, it's a good deal, they're on sale! Plus we need them. Oh yeah, and so far in the last 4 months you've gotten a new pickup, remote start and fancy stickers to make it look cool, oh yeah, and didn't you just get a second four wheeler?" I actually think I should actually get my computer monitor and the shelves. But I'll settle for the shelves.

Since he bought the four wheeler, we decided to go out on the land. We had a lot of fun. We started out on a short trip, but I think we were out there for two or three hours. I took some pictures that I loaded on my photosite. Take a look if you want to.

Back to my rock garden border. It turned out pretty nice, and DJ admited to me he had his doubts when I told him my plans. It definately looks pretty good for free! I didn't take any pics because I had no plants in it yet. As soon as I add some plants, I'll take some pics for y'all.

In other news:. I added a Ticker to countdown my weekend O fun with Kai. I would tell you to checkout his blog, but he's to lazy lately to write anything.

OK. I'll be supportive. I've been reading Zack Braff's blog. Watch these outakes from his new movie "The Ex" The last part had me laughing so hard.

Excitement Up North

Life here in ye ole north has been a little atrabilious for me (as you all may have noticed from several of my past posts).  But things are looking up for little kb.

  • I think I'm finally starting to look thinner. I am wearing a shirt I didn't even wear last year because I had too many fat rolls (while standing up).  Today I thought it looked pretty good. Also, a pair of capri pants that I didn't wear much last year because they are lower cut, and my fat would bulge out of the top.  Put those on yesterday to see how they fit, and there is actually some room.  No more muffin top.  Although I've only lost .2 lbs in the past 2 weeks (mainly due to my lack of discipline) I think I'm still looking and feeling better.
  • My chiropractor appointment yesterday deemed good news!  I've graduated to the next level.  If my next appointment (in a week) goes well, I get to start going every other week instead of every week.  Which will really help out my pocketbook.
  • I think I may be making a few friends here at the office too.  Four of us have started a walking meeting where we just go walk a mile during the day. Not that I expect happy hours or anything like that, but maybe on occasion, I'll have a lunch date other than myself.
  • I saw my own version of the Sex and the City girls this weekend.  It was a total girly weekend, we went and got massages, then had a Mary Kaye makeup party.  Can't divulge anything else other than that though. Love those girls.  They keep me sane living where I live.
  • Plus, my uncles wedding is next weekend, so I'll be seeing my parents!  (and my sister, but that's not exactly a happy note.)  First thing I want to do is take my dad on a big long walk through the countryside.  I think we both just need to get out there and remind ourselves of the beauty of nature.  We've both had a rough couple of weeks.  It's always a great time to be had when my dad's side of my family gets together.  We're a crazy bunch.   My sister is bringing her THREE dumb dogs, and her ONE dumb boyfriend.  (OK, he's not dumb-well other than the fact that he's been dating my sister for way too long-but it just sounded so good writing it that way). There will be a lot of drinking involved though, so I'm going to have to plan it out.  One shot has 100 calories, whereas one margarita has about 450.  So I'll have to steer clear of things such as Cranberry & Vodkas.  I'll have to go back to Jack and Diet coke which will cost me 100 calories each as well.  So it's shots and Jack for me.  I'm thinking a shot of tequila early in the evening, followed by two or three jack & cokes nursed throughout the evening.  I'll also have to watch what I eat very closely.  Because this side of the family really loves their food.  (Several of them are either large or obese.)
  • And the most exciting news this week!   (drum roll please...) My friend Kai has decided to pay me a visit.  I'm so excited I almost pee'd myself three times yesterday.  He told me not to get excited until he told me for sure he was going to come up, but I couldn't help it.  Then he sent me his itinerary today.  Woo hoo!  It's official.  The plane is booked, so if he changes his mind now, he'll have to pay the airline fees to change his ticket.  He's a good as mine.  :o)

Shit Just Keeps Getting Worse

Guess what gang? My dad told me this morning that they had to put his dog down. That happened a lot sooner than I expected. And the worse thing is, I already can't think about dead pets without crying like someone just stole my favorite barbie out of the sandbox on the playground at recess(That would make me cry a lot). So what do I do? My dad is likely on verge of his own breakdown, so neither of us will be very stable. So I think I'm going to wait a day or two before calling him.

DJ has said to me a couple times about how I need a cuddly creature around. I told him if it's anything other than him, I don't want it. I'm a little worried he's going to show up with something warm and fuzzy. I hope not. I want some time by myself. The only thing I think I might want, is a couple of fish. If those things croak, I won't care.

Day Four

I've noticed that I have a few "scary cat lady" habits (or, "scary rabbit lady" habits to be more accurate). I apparently talked to Jax quite a bit, because I find myself talking to her in my head now. I'll start to say something out loud, then realize she's not there. Like when I go to the fridge for a couple carrots, I immediately feel myself wanting to ask her if she wants a carrot. -I think I'm going to have to give up eating carrots and celery for a while.

I also noticed that I have some "rabbit" centric habits that are going to be hard to get rid of. Like for example, I laid out a few photos on the floor last night. Now usually, if I left something like that on the floor, the rabbit would run right on over and try to take a nibble. So last night, I am arranging and rearranging photos on the floor, but I'm doing it in a way that I'm sort of on guard to ward off any bunny attacks. Once I realized that I was doing that. I couldn't work with the pictures anymore.

Another rabbit habit I have, is whenever something rustles or rattles, I immediately go into "stop the rabbit" mode. Last night I had put some of her things in a plastic bag and placed it on the table. It fell from the table to the chair, and in my head I totally thought it was the rabbit getting into something she's not supposed to.

Last night, I got to bed alright, but woke up around midnight feeling like something or someone was in my house. I couldn't remember if I had locked my front door after my walk. So after I decided no one was in my closet ready lunge at me once my eyes focused on him, I got up and went all the way downstairs to make sure I locked my door. After I checked that, (It was indeed locked). I realized how quiet my place was. Maybe all these years, Jax was the reason for my insomnia? Bunnies are quiet in the sense that they don't bark or meow, but they are apparently loud in other ways. Thumping, jumping, running, chewing, rustling things around.... My boss thinks I may need one of those little white noise machines to help me through the nights.

Something good:
My loving husband came up and went to lunch with me today. Given, I forgot that he had a dentist appointment, and that's the real reason why he's in town, but I was still happy he was here all the same. We split a burger at Chili's. I told him he should come up to see me every Wednesday. Even though that's pretty impractical since he'll be out in the field 24/7 starting any day now.

Here's something I found that was cute. That cheered me up.

And here's another one. I thought Jax was smart because she played ball with me, and walked on a leash. I guess I wasn't challenging her to her full potential!

Weekend Update

Hi Everyone. Sorry I haven't written in a while. Truth is, I'm having a pretty rough last few days. Sunday night, on my way home, I was planning on posting about how well my presentation went on Friday. But instead, something happened that I am still having trouble dealing with it. After driving 3 plus hours, I arrived home Sunday evening to a lifeless bunny rabbit. I don't know what happened, and I don't even know when she died. Which is probably what disturbs me the most. She died all by herself. What if there was something I could have done to prevent it?

After I fixed her up, and put her in a box with her favorite toys and treats, I drove another fourty-five minutes to meet DJ to hand her off and have him bury her somewhere on the farm. Needless to say, it was a very late night Sunday for me.

I know she was just a pet, and lived a good life, and blah blah blah but I guess my main problem is that I wasn't expecting it at all. When I left her on Friday she was fine, and healthy looking. We played ball, and ate carrots together. I told her that when I got back we were going to re-video us playing ball because my last version was too dark. I really should have done it before I left, but the carpet needed to be vacuumed, and I was lazy. (I tried to upload the video to youtube, but I can't seem to get it to work. So maybe you'll get to see it some other time after I get a chance to figure that out.)

The hardest parts are in the morning, or when I'm getting ready to leave. Usually, in the mornings she hears me in the bathroom, and starts tinking her little bell and just moving around in general. When I come around the corner, she usually would jump up and great me at her cage door. Then we'd sit there for a couple minutes while I rubbed her down until one of us got sick of sitting there. Then I'd give her a treat and head off to work. Now everything is just silent in the morning. The nights are also quiet because she'd always be awake, and thumping, or just doing whatever rabbits do in the night while I was trying to sleep.

Last night, I can't even count the number of times I looked over at her spot expecting to see her there. Today is better than yesterday though. I've only cried three times this morning, even though I did tear up one other time while talking to a co-worker about something totally unrelated.

It seems that this year is not the year for the kb family and pets. Click the image below to see a few pics that I pulled together real quick.
