9 Words Women Use

This is awesome! I have to say, I agree with most of these. Especially #8 and 9. I believe I used them both just this weekend.

1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed , this means a half an hour.
Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5. Loud Sigh: This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. "That's okay" means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome.

8. Whatever: Is a women's way of saying F*@& YOU!

9. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response, refer to #3.

We're Lowering the Price of Your Netflix Plan

Wow! Netflix must really be worried about this new Blockbuster campaign. I got an email with the above title in the subject line. They are lowering how much they charge me for my Netflix. AWESOME!

Busy Busy Busy!

Woah nelly! I have been so crazy busy at my work these days. We've kicked off a new project that involves developing a whole new website. Want to know my role? Well, I am the Project Manager. Which means, I get to hear everyone's bitches and moans, try to keep the rumors from running rampant and stressing out the team more than they need to be, make sure we are all on track, as well as scheduling guest speakers involved in the project. It is consuming ALL of my time at work. ALL of it. I have done nothing but organize, schedule, put out fires for this project since it launched. I haven't had a chance to work on any of my other projects that are just as important.

So basically, don't count on hearing from me much during the day. Either on my blog, or through emails. I've got something like 175 unread emails and about another 50 or so that are in my to do folder just waiting for me to love on them. My poor emails. They are so neglected.

On another note. I have been seeing Yorkies a lot lately, and they are SOOOOOOO Cute! If they weren't $1,200 or more. I totally would get one. I'd get a Yorkie and a Sheltie. Just look how cute these tiny babes are! (They only get to be about 4 pounds.)

Wook at those faces!

Shelites:

Let's play a game! There is something that these dogs have in common that I realized is the number one reason why I love them so much. (The thing that makes the so darn cute.) Can you guess what it is? If you guess right, I'll send you a free bottle of your favorite supplement. ha! OK. Maybe I'll come up with something better than that.

PS. I am so sick of Paul McCartney. I hate his new commercial for iTunes. Screw you Paul! Your old, your boring, and you just need to do what other old and boring people do. Why don't you go shuffle boarding or something?

Weekend Update: Standoff with the Man

I forgot to mention in my last post.  I have started a stand of with my man about food.

Saturday, he didn't plan on coming home until 5:00.  So at 4:00 when I told him that I would make something and have it ready to eat when he got home, he told me he wouldn't have time to eat and that we could get something at the race.  (Options there would be: hot dogs, hamburgers, beer, and something they call a walking taco -Snack size bag of Doritos opened on it's side, then lettuce and other crap thrown inside- never had one, they don't look or sound tasty to me.)  So I politely said to my man, "Well, I'd prefer to eat something here so that I don't keep offsetting all the progress I've made with my weight all week by eating crap on the weekend."  So he says to me, "Well, you can eat what you like, I'll be eating at the race."  So then I say, calmly "Well, part of the reason I am here today, is to spend time with you.  It would be nice if you eat with me.  Plus, if you eat at the race, I'm just going to want what you're eating, and that won't help me."  Well...I wound up eating alone.  He ate himself a hotdog and a beer at the race, while  I sipped on my spiked diet coke.  His hot dog didn't even look good to me, and because I ate something low on the GI scale, I wasn't hungry again for the rest of the night.  Go me.

Weekend Update

Boy, do I need a pick me up this morning.  I had a really relaxing weekend doing not much of anything, but last night I didn't get home until 10:30, and didn't get to bed until 11:30.  Which is late for me.  If I don't get to bed around 10:00.  I am tired the next morning.  Add to that all the trouble I have sleeping, it can make for many a restless nights.  But last night I pretty much slept through the night.  Accept for that time I had to get up and turn the fan on because it was so flippin' hot in my room.

I have been having issues with my hip.  I feel like a total old lady.  I am thinking it's arthritis because I've been going to my chiropractor, and it hasn't been getting better. Even though everything else is getting better. Today, I could hardly get up the stairs.  I actually had to grab hold of the railing, and pull myself up the stairs.  I  have not a clue why I'm such an old lady, but it really needs to stop.  I cannot be a crippled old lady at 30.  I just can't!

Saturday the man and I headed off to an Enduro race on a near by Lakota Reservation.  I finally got some sun on my white pasty body, and I even won a tee shirt and a key chain! Woo hoo!

Sunday we headed out to one of DJ's friends places which is on the South Dakota side of the lake that I grew up on.  So we hung out on the lake all day.  That's the life man.  No one to bug you, you can do what you want, and just lounge.  If that were my place, I'd put a nice love seat out on the end of the dock where I could lounge around and read or whatever.

So, finally, it is looking like summer out here in that Great Northwest.  It's about damn time!

Pier 1 CEO to Cut Catalog, Pier 1 Kids FORT WORTH, Texas

Holy Crap!
I can't believe this!!!!! I'd be out of a job if I were still there!
I'm totally shocked. Why would anyone shut down their ecommerce site? The most anoying thing in the world is visiting a site for a store and finding that is just informational and you can't buy anything.

Pier 1 CEO to Cut Catalog, Pier 1 Kids FORT WORTH, Texas (June 21) -- In a series of radical moves, Pier 1 Imports Chief Executive Officer Alex Smith outlined plans to exit a spate of businesses: the catalog arm, the e-commerce business, Pier 1 Kids and its outlet stores, during a conference call to review first-quarter results.

These businesses, which Smith called “an albatross,” generate about $60 million in annual revenues, but “don’t have as good a return on investment as Pier 1,” Smith said.
As a result, the retailer will close a total of 100 stores this year, up from earlier estimates of 60 units.

It’s all part of Smith’s plan to focus on Pier 1’s core 1,020 stores, without “any distractions or excuses,” he said. Pier 1 will also discontinue television advertising, as well as catalog advertising and reduce couponing. In turn, the monthly mailers will be “the backbone” of the retailer’s advertising, he said.

The retailer will exit the e-commerce and catalog businesses by Aug. 31; shutter the 33 Pier 1 Kids stores by Oct. 31; and close the 24 clearance stores by July 31.
Pier1.com will only serve as a marketing vehicle. Smith said the moves should generate cost savings of about $150 million.

Those Damned Pirates

Too Cute Not to Share

OK. There is sort of an animal theme going on in my life right now. These two little otters are too cute not to share. Watch the whole clip. It's sooooo sweet!

The Best Game Show EVER!!! EVER!

I want them to bring this show to the states! It's great!

Weekend Update

I'm suffering from some serious "don't want to do anything" syndrome. So I'll try to keep this interesting.

This weekend DJ and I headed off to Medora, ND. In a (nutshell) it's a tiny little old time town located in the Badlands out in Western North Dakota. It was pretty neat for what it was. We headed out of the rain on Friday morning. (It's been raining here like you would not believe.) When we arrived, we picked up our keys to "the Bunkhouse" (aka the hotel room I paid $80 a night for). We walk in, and do you want to know what 80 bucks buys you in podunkville cowboy town in the Badlands of North Dakota? You'd think it'd be a mansion suite right? Well... It was literally a trailer separated into rooms. Our room was just big enough for a small bathroom, and two twin beds. Yeppppp. Our romantic anniversary weekend was going to be spent Flintstones style. Oh, did I mention the walls must have been made out of particle board? You could hear the conversations the people in the other rooms were having. As a matter of fact, DJ and I sat in there and eavesdropped for a couple hours one morning. So as you can imagine, the hot sweaty screaming lovin' was out of the picture.

This town is pretty much famous for it's Musical that they put on. This was actually pretty cool so far as musicals go. The amphitheater is outside on the hillside, and their set is very elaborate complete with moving buildings. They also use live horses and the hillside as part of the act. Every musical involves some sort of tribute to Theodore Roosevelt, who apparently had a ranch out there, and thought very highly of the time he spent there before he was president.

I ate pretty badly. There were a couple restaurants that I would have preferred to eat at, but since I had my husband who doesn't care about food, and really doesn't get the idea of pre-thinking a meal, it was hard to get him to think past, "Lets just go in here." So basically for the weekend I ate, pizza, hamburger, fried fish, steak, country fried steak, chips, and pop. It really sucked. I pointed out two real restaurants that I would have liked to try, but my attempts fell on hard headed deaf ears. Which pissed me off, but who wants to fight on their anniversary? So I just tried to ignore it and deal with it. But let me tell you, if he so much as mentions anything about "Have you lost any weight this week? or You didn't eat very well last week." It's totally on man. I'll rip him a new hole somewhere where he for sure won't enjoy it. So my goal for this week is just to get back to where I was last week. Which is quite disappointing since I put on some weight and didn't even ENJOY doing it. That's the one thing that sucks about this whole changing my way of eating. If I'm not going to enjoy it, I'm not going to put it into my mouth. (Hey, that could go for my sex life as well. ;o)~

OK. That's about the gist of my weekend adventures. Oh my God! I almost forgot the best part! Theodore Roosevelt National Park is right there too. So we drove through the park. Want to know the coolest thing about that park? Besides the Buffalo that hang out on the side of the road, and all the beautiful scenery? It's the Prairie Dogs!!! They are so cool! There are these big ole Prairie Dog towns and they aren't afraid of you when you stop, so they are just doing their prairie dog thing, barking at each other, and sunbathing and all that jazz. They were so much fun to watch! When they make their barking noise they throw their whole entire bodies up in the air. I wish I could have gotten it on video, but it was hard to get. So you'll just have to do with these photos. Check it out!

Six and a Quarter Inches

You may have noticed that my little weight loss ticker hasn't moved much in the past month.  Sadly, it's not that I've been sooo busy that I couldn't update my ticker.  It's that it really hasn't moved.  In actuality, it has moved.  It's yo-yo'd up and down each week, but I'm still at the loss mark.  I've decided that although to see that little ticker slide closer and closer to the thirty mark would make me very happy.  What's more important are the things I'm changing in my lifestyle and diet that matter to me more.  Because above all, I want to enjoy my life, and part of enjoying life to me, is food.  So this journey is more to me about finding a balance than it is starving myself to meet a specific number on the scale.  Otherwise, I would have already met that target and regained it.

Even though the scale doesn't reflect it, I am indeed eating better as well as eating less.  I have been taking body measurements and from my last measurement, I have lost Six and a Quarter total inches.  I'd much rather see loss in inches than loss on the scale anyway.  So I'm still being successful.  I put on some summer cloths that at the end of the season last year, I couldn't get into.  (OK.  Some of them, I couldn't get into when I bought them in the first place.  Who am I kidding?)  Anyway.  I threw a pair of shorts into my bag for our weekend retreat, not trying them on first.  I figured, "Well, they'll likely be tight, but I'll stretch them out and they will be fine for the weekend."  When I went to sQUEeze myself into them on Saturday, to my delight, no squeezing was involved!  In fact, several times throughout the day, I had to check to see if my zipper was down, because they were so lose, I thought I must have left the zipper down to have all that room down there.

This weekend was terrible for food.  My loving husband kept picking restaurants that made pizza or hamburgers, or anything fried.  Each restaurant I'd suggest he'd nix and want to go to something else.  So it was very hard to eat low GI items.  So I don't even want to step on the scale today. I figure, if I don't know the damage, then I can't be depressed about it... Right?

Too Cute

This is soooo totally cute.  Don't have a clue who this dude is, but his chipmunk is totally cute.
I have a feeling this chipmunk must do this often.  He's a little too tame to be the regular wild beast.

Another Great Garfield

iGoogle

So.  I get this "Things to Ponder" thing on my iGoogle page everyday.  Today's thing to ponder is this.

Then, I click on it to see what everyone's comments are.  Usually they are funny or slightly amusing.  The first comment I read is this.

iSABELLA
THEY REMIND YOU OF WHAT YOU HAD FORGOTTEN: OR MISCALCULATED? THEN THERE ARE THE MEXICANS AND THE GAYS!!
Ummmm...  OK Isabella.  I think you've got issues that reach far beyond the scope of this item to ponder.  Because the first thing I think about when I am overdrawn is "Damn those Mexican's and Gays!".  Not, "Damn, I fucked up again!  I'm so frickin' poor!"

Happy Anniversary To Us!

Today is DJ and my Three Year Anniversary. Doesn't sound like much, but I'm still surprised that I haven't gotten sick of him. ha! That means I've been having sex with the same guy for 6 years. SIX YEARS! Isn't that crazy? The same one guy. And I still like him. Who would have ever thought that would happen?
We're not doing anything special today. He can finally get into one of his fields, so I'm giving him a reprieve for this year. We've got some fun plans for our long weekend retreat. I won't tell you what they are, because that's between me and the man, but I can tell you there will be a lot of "loving" going on. :o)

Next Time

What I plan to do the next time DJ and I have the discussion about my weight.

If you haven't figured it out, DJ is John and I am Garfield.

Boob Tube & Your Daily Education

I have to say, it's quite nice not being tied to the boob tube (aka the TV). Since the season finally of Lost and Grey's Anatomy, I haven't had to be home in my chair at any specified time for a couple weeks now. That being said, I am so happy to see that Hell's Kitchen is back on. I forgot how great this show is! I love Gordon Ramsey. He's an ass, but when he's not being an ass, he's a really good mentor. Plus, when he's in street cloths, he's pretty hot. He can verbally abuse me any night!

On my weekend O Fun with Kai, I bought this really cool contraption at the As Seen on TV store. It is a Power Mixer. Check it out. I ordered some protein shake mix from a competitor a couple weeks ago. (One of the fun things I get to do, is order things online to see how our competitors are doing.) So anyway. I tried this stuff out, and it would be pretty good if I could find a good shaker or something to mix up all the lumps. Just tried this thing out today. It rocks! It's super quiet, and works better than you think it is. I had no lumps in my drink within seconds.

In my quest for the perfect shaker, I had asked my uncle where he got his shaker bottle from. He is on a program from USANA which essentially is a slim fast sort of deal, but better because it's packed with vitamins and nutrients that you need from your daily diet. This particular program seems pretty good because they also put you on supplements to ensure that you are not depriving your body of any neccessary nutrients. Anyway. I was asking him about his shaker bottle, and he sent me a 5 day "Reset" package of the stuff he's on. I was completely shocked when I got it. Especially when I saw the bill. I've got to call my uncle and find out if I owe him money. That's a lot of money. But I'm thinking this stuff is worth it. I started it yesterday and I haven't had a single hunger pain or craving for anything. This reset program calls for a shake for breakfast, a snack, shake for lunch, snack, shake for dinner, 1 serving vegetables, 1 serving fruit. It's sort of weird that I haven't had a full meal in two days, but I feel great, and like I said, haven't had a single craving for anything. And what's even stranger to me. I couldn't finish my shake tonight. It was just too much. I had to put 1/2 of it back into the fridge until I was ready for the rest of it. Depending on what the scale says at the end of my 5 day trial, I might find myself ordering more of this stuff. I'll keep y'all posted on my results. But so far, it's feeling pretty good. Let's see if I totally crash tomorrow. Here's what I've eaten today:
Breakfast Shake
1 pc Ghirardelli Chocolate
Lunch Shake
1 hard boiled egg
2 pc cheese with crackers
Dinner Shake
Plus, 30 minute walk, and 30 minute bike ride.

Not bad eh?

Without Further Adieu...

OK. So you wanna know what Kai thinks is so funny? Here it is. (Brace yourself for disappointment.)

Saturday. After spending some time waiting out the rain to try to four-wheel or ride horse, or something, we decide to head out to our next destination. We are at my MILs house. There are two driveways. The one I usually take when I leave is flooded. So I am backing out and preparing to take the second driveway when, Bang!

"WTF was that?", I ask Kai.
He opens his window and starts giggling. "You ran over that pot!"
"What? No way!"

I get out of the car. Fearing that I just killed a pot full of plants that my MIL has on the lawn outside her front door. Not only did I hit the pot, I knocked it completely over! (In my defense. The lady had filled the pot half way with empty pop cans, so the thing was top heavy. Any slight bumping of this thing would send it over.) So I start throwing the dirt (actually, because of the rain, it was mud) back into the pot. Then I decide to go in and tell my MIL what I did. There is my husband in the doorway shaking his head at me. "Whatever!". Where is the love when you need it?

After finally getting all those stupid plants back in their place. I hop in the car and we're off! Well...not quite yet. Because as I am repositioning my car, Kai starts saying, "Hey KB, watch the pot." giggle giggle giggle. Then he starts yelling, "Watch the pot! watch the pot!" Bang! I hit the damn thing AGAIN! Now, if anyone knows Kai, you know that he likes to make fun of you when you do something stupid. So when he started telling me to watch the pot, I ignored him, thinking I was totally clear of that stupid pot. Then, he's yelling at me just to go, "Go! Go! Go!" Yeah, like they aren't going to know it was me that did it. (I have decided the position of that pot is a very stupid place for it.) This time, Kai got out of the car and helped me throw the damn plants back into the damn pot. After getting them secure for the second time. We head out. Kai giggling hysterically for most of the ride. I think those plants are still living. So that's good work.

So there you have it. The story that amuses kai so much. He's not going to let me forget it for a while. All I can hope for is for him to do something equally or more stupid so that I can make fun of him for a while. His time is coming. It's only a matter of time. His karma is building.

Education of the Day

I learned something interesting today at work from one of my coworkers.  Are you ready?

Crickets have worms inside them, and when they die, they crawl out of them.  Checkout this video.  It's crazy. CRAZY!
The right sidbar tells us that the worm releases a chemical tricking the cricket to go into the water (killing the cricket) and the worm can crawl out and swim away.  So not only are these worms parasites, they are MURDERERS!

Enjoy

Weekend Update

OK. There are about 2 of you that are waiting for me to update my blog. The rest of you, well...I guess you don't love me enough to come back regularly and now I think I'm going to cry!

As you know, my good friend Kai came up for a whirlwind weekend. And let me tell you! It was quite the whirlwind! And now I am poor now. Super poor. I had allotted myself like $200 to blow on fun stuff. I am wayyyyyyyy over that budget! But If you don't count the cost of gas, I'm in the range. Here is a breakdown of my spending:
GAS 31.73%
FOOD 16.88%
SHOPPING 51.39%
100.00%

Want to know what we did? Here's a quick review.

Thursday
Went to dinner and a club downtown with my friend Jordan and her friend. Had a blast! There was a guy there with assless leather chaps. He was awesome! Especially when he had his ass photographed with two women "cheek to cheek". It was greatness. I wish I had taken a picture of him. -- I think we also witnessed a crack deal go down when we were driving around trying to find the right parking garage to park in.-- Headed home early to rest up for our Day of Shopping!

Friday
Got to the MOA before it even opened! Had to sit around for 20 minutes and wait for stores to open. Kai made his first purchase within the first 10 minutes of Banana Republic being open. It was a good purchase. I think the best thing he bought all day. We shopped around until about 5:00. (That's SEVEN hours! SEVEN!) Then we headed out just in time for rush hour traffic, and headed to the Outlet Mall. The store we really wanted to go to wasn't open anymore, so we didn't really waist much time there. Maybe about an hour or two. Then we headed to the Big W. In the rain.

Saturday
Tried to four wheel, but got dumped on. It could have been fun, but it wasn't. :o( I made Kai get out of the car and search the ditch for Asperigus. At first he refused to get down in the ditch. But after figuring out what we were looking for, and then deciding I wasn't picking them fast enough, he started to help. We got quite a bit too. He took home about half of it, and I suspect his boyfriend is tired of it by now (unless they froze some of it.) Since it was raining we headed to FM early. I cooked out and we rested. Then we drove around the area and looked at things like, my office building, houses, downtown, blah blah blah.

Sunday
Got up at the butt crack of dawn to drive Kai back to the Airport. (3.5 hour drive) DJ was with us this time, so the ride was a little more mellow. Not to mention, I think we were all still sleeping. After dropping Kai off at the airport, and crying my eyes out because he's leaving me in this terrible place all alone! DJ and I headed to the MOA. (After all, he wasn't with us the first time.) Once I realized his plan was to wander around at a snails pace, I decided we had better go see a movie. Because the last thing I wanted to do was wander around aimlessly at a place that I had already spent seven hours in. So we saw Spiderman. It was a'it. Better than the second one I guess. What's his face plays a good dork.

Then, on our way back to FM, we stopped at my friend Sara's for an early dinner, and to pick up the stuff I left at her place during the last girls outing. It was nice to lounge around with her and her husband (and non-bratty kids--Those are the good kind you know.--) And drink margaritas of course! We stayed longer than we should have, but it was fun! The drive home sucked terribly. DJ was crabby because of all the happenings with farming, and I wasn't happy that he wasn't keeping me entertained. So finally he fell asleep and I was left to myself, the gigantic bugs splattering my windsheild, and my music to sing along to.

I'm sick of driving. If I never have to drive again, that'd be lovely.
